2020 will be a big year for Democrats.
It will be their chance to take down President Trump.
But the latest poll that just dropped shows they have lost their minds.
The Likely Democrats To Challenge Trump
It’s way too far out for polls to mean much in the 2020 election.
The only thing that matters is that Democrats need to begin uniting if they are going to beat Trump.
But the latest poll shows they are far from united.
Released by CNN, it shows Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders as the frontrunners.
The first @CNN numbers for 2020 Democratic presidential nomination just released this morning:
Biden 33%
Sanders 13%
Harris 9%
Warren 8%
Booker 5%
Kerry 5%
Bloomberg 4%
O’Rourke 4%
Holder 3%
Garcetti 2%
Avenatti 1%
Gillibrand 1%
Klobuchar 1%
Patrick 1%
Bullock <1%
Delaney <1%— Ryan Struyk (@ryanstruyk) October 14, 2018
Biden has 33%, while Sanders has 13%.
Some may consider that as a positive for Biden.
But considering that Hillary had over 60 percent in the same poll leading into 2016, those numbers aren’t very promising.
And what is even more troubling for Democrats are the candidates trailing.
Just below Sanders in the polls are Sens. Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Cory Booker.
All three of those candidates fit more with the Bernie-wing of the party.
That means that any of them one-on-one against Biden would be likely to win at this point.
Democrats Shifting Radically Left
This fits with the Democrats’ radical shift to the left, especially since the election of Donald Trump.
The 2018 election features a slew of Democrats who fully embrace socialism.
Most prominent is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
She is a vocal supporter of the Democratic Socialists of America.
And while those kinds of candidates would usually be seen as fringe, Democrats are embracing her.
She even has the support of former President Barack Obama.
So far-left policies aren’t as radical as they once were to Democrats.
This means that those candidates have a fighting chance in 2020.
Democrat Dark Horse Candidates
Another thing this poll shows is a few possible dark horse candidates who could spring into the top of the pack.
Donald Trump was a dark horse candidate when he first joined the pack for president.
So Democrats could embrace somebody similar.
If they wanted to nominate somebody similar to Trump, Michael Bloomberg is a possibility.
He’s a billionaire and former Mayor in New York City.
Just recently he switched his political affiliation from independent to Democrat.
And in the poll, he sits at 4%, showing that he at least has some support.
Bloomberg has the ability to appeal to some moderate Republicans, giving him an advantage.
And he also has over $50 billion, meaning he can fully self-fund his campaign.
Another dark horse candidate is Rep. Beto O’Rourke.
In his bid against Sen. Ted Cruz, he has raised nearly $40 million.
That is more than some candidates for president raised through their entire campaigns in 2016.
So he has a donor base and some name recognition.
He is also building a campaign architecture that can be expanded to a national level.
And the last dark horse candidate, who is the most unlikely of the bunch, is Michael Avenatti.
As the lawyer for Stormy Daniels, he is a resistance hero.
But he has also angered many Democrats in recent weeks after getting involved in the fight against Kavanaugh.
Some credit his politicization of the sexual assault claims for discrediting their fight in the public’s eye.
Despite that, some see him as a real threat to Trump.
Steve Bannon even goes so far as to say that somebody with the fighting spirit of Avenatti, and the politics of Sanders could have beaten Trump.
But only time will tell what will happen.
All that is clear is that Democrats are not united, but seem to be shifting to the far-left.
