Barack Obama’s administration is having to pay the price for their shocking abuse of power.
There’s no excuse for what they did.
This $75 million lawsuit is making Barack Obama pace the floor.
Kevin Clinesmith is a former FBI lawyer who pleaded guilty for making a false statement because he changed information.
Clinesmith altered an email to say that former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page was “not a source” for another government agency, in a FISA application to conduct surveillance on Page.
However, Page was a source of information for the CIA.
The FBI lied to other government agencies in order to spy on the Trump campaign.
This is highly troubling since there was no information that justified the FBI’s actions and they were behaving in a manner which seems to have been politically motivated.
Page is now suing the FBI and other involved officials for $75 million alleging that he was a victim of “unlawful spying.”
Page said in the lawsuit he filed on Friday that the FBI violated “his Constitutional and other legal rights in connection with unlawful surveillance and investigation of him by the United States Government.”
“Dr. Page was targeted because of his lawful association with the 2016 Presidential campaign of Donald Trump,” Page’s complaint says.
The DOJ found, in a report released on Dec. 9, 2019, that the FBI made multiple errors on their FISA court applications.
After the report was released, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham advised Page to “sue the hell out of” the FBI and DOJ.
“The complaint centers on four applications the FBI submitted to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) to surveil Page as part of Crossfire Hurricane, a counterintelligence investigation opened in July 2016 into possible links between the Trump campaign and Russia.” The Daily Caller reported.
The FISA warrants also relied heavily on the Steele dossier which was an unverified, and now completely debunked, piece of propaganda paid for by the Clinton campaign and the DNC.
The Steele dossier claimed that Carter Page was critical in in the Trump campaign’s “well-developed conspiracy of cooperation” with the Kremlin.
The Clinton campaign promoted the Russia collusion myth in order to try and keep the public’s focus off of her own email scandal.
There has never been any evidence to back that allegation.
Page’s lawyers said that if the FBI had conducted an “honest and thorough investigation” of the Steele dossier they would have found it to be an untrustworthy source of information.
“In reality, there was no ‘probable cause’ to support surveillance of Dr. Page,” the lawsuit says. “If the FBI had fully and accurately reported what it knew, the FISA warrants against Dr. Page would neither have been sought nor issued.”
