CNN never likes to cede an inch in the left’s battle against President Trump.
But on this day, there was no other choice.
And CNN had to bite the bullet and make this shocking on-air confession about Trump.
As Swamp Digest reports:
Joe Biden and former Attorney General Merrick Garland weaponized the justice system to try to rig the 2024 election by naming Jack Smith as special counsel for the January 6 and classified documents hoaxes.
Smith filed two sham indictments against Trump that collapsed.
Judge Aileen Cannon ruled Garland violated the Appointments Clause by naming Smith, a private citizen, as special counsel.
The Supreme Court slapped down Smith twice for unconstitutionally prosecuting Trump.
First, the court ruled that Smith unlawfully charged Trump with obstructing an official proceeding.
Then the court ruled that presidents possess immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts in office.
Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee hauled Smith in for questioning.
It didn’t go well for Smith.
Trump delighted in Republicans shredding Smith for his lawless, partisan lawfare.
“Deranged Jack Smith is being DECIMATED before Congress. It was over when they discussed his past failures and unfair prosecutions. He destroyed many lives under the guise of legitimacy,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“Jack Smith is a deranged animal who shouldn’t be allowed to practice Law. If he were a Republican, his license would be taken away from him, and far worse!” Trump continued.
One exchange that attracted attention was Congressman Brandon Gill cornering Smith for spying on then Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) toll records as part of the January 6 witch hunt.
And not even CNN could defend Smith’s ducking of questions about trying to interfere in the election.
Legal analyst Elie Honig mocked Smith’s evasiveness when questioned about his rush to try Trump in the classified documents hoax four months after the indictment.
Honig said Smith violated Trump’s constitutional right to a fair legal defense by rushing the case to trial and that Smith didn’t even offer a defense when grilled about his motivations for demanding the judge schedule Trump’s trial before the 2024 election.
“There is no defense lawyer in the country who can constitutionally prepare for trial and defend his client in that short a time frame. The implication was that you were rushing to get this in before the 2024 election. Jack Smith did not defend himself, by the way. He didn’t say a word about that, which I found—I found it strange. Yeah, it’s true, right? It’s true. Exactly. And he didn’t defend himself,” Honig stated.
“They were trying to get this case before the election,” CNN’s Evan Perez added.
“Exactly. And Jack Smith has always maintained this veneer that he never thought about the election. Of course he did,” Honig said as he found it preposterous that Smith claimed his demand for a speedy trial wasn’t motivated by politics.
The Constitution guarantees the accused a right to a speedy trial so the government can’t keep them in legal limbo indefinitely.
Jack Smith got an Obama Judge to schedule the classified documents hoax trial for March 2024.
Smith sought a speedy trial so he could force Trump to stand for a show trial in D.C., where a jury pool of all Democrats would convict Trump in minutes on the shame charges Smith brought forth.
And Smith hoped the conviction would ban Trump from the ballot or force him to campaign from a jail cell, either of which would keep Trump out of the White House.
