President Trump spent decades begging Presidents to take one bold action against Iran.
Trump realized that if you want something done, do it yourself.
And Trump just made good on one prediction from the 1980s.
As West Wing Daily reports:
Oil spiked to over $100 a barrel when Iran shut down the Strait of Hormuz.
20 percent of the world’s oil passes through this waterway, and shutting it down was the one card Iran could play.
Iran also shut down the Strait in the 1980s during the Iran-Iraq War.
In 1988, Trump told reporters that if he were President, he would hit Iran’s Kharg Island, since Iran uses it to export 90 percent of their oil.
“I’d be harsh on Iran. They’ve been beating us psychologically, making us look like a bunch of fools. One bullet shot at one of our men or ships, and I’d do a number on Kharg Island. I’d go in and take it,” Trump stated.
If the U.S. captured Kharg Island or destroyed the oil stored there, Iran’s economy would instantly collapse since it would lose access to the oil that generates the revenue that keeps its economy afloat.
President Trump fulfilled his 36-year-old prediction when he announced the U.S. military carried out a massive bombing raid on Kharg Island that destroyed its military defenses.
“Moments ago, at my direction, the United States Central Command executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the History of the Middle East, and totally obliterated every MILITARY target in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump reminded Iran that America possessed the most powerful and sophisticated weapons in the world, but that he purposefully didn’t order a strike on Kharg Island’s oil infrastructure.
“Our Weapons are the most powerful and sophisticated that the World has ever known, but, for reasons of decency, I have chosen NOT to wipe out the Oil Infrastructure on the Island,” Trump added.
But Trump said his mercy would only extend so far and that unless Iran reopened the Strait of Hormuz, it faced economic apocalypse.
“However, should Iran, or anyone else, do anything to interfere with the Free and Safe Passage of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision,” Trump continued.
Trump repeated his aim that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon and warned that Iran would be wise to surrender now or face destruction.
During my First Term, and currently, I rebuilt our Military into the Most Lethal, Powerful, and Effective Force, by far, anywhere in the World. Iran cannot defend anything that we want to attack — There is nothing they can do about it! Iran will NEVER have a nuclear weapon, nor will it have the ability to threaten the United States of America, the Middle East, or, for that matter, the World! Iran’s Military and all others involved with this Terrorist Regime would be wise to lay down their arms and save what’s left of their country, which isn’t much!
