A former female staffer coming forward alleging that Swalwell raped her when he was too drunk to consent to sex in 2019 and 2024 turned the California Gubernatorial Election upside down, as Swalwell was considered the frontrunner to succeed Gavin Newsom.
“I remember the next day, I can see flashes of that evening, of him on top of me, me pushing him off, him grabbing me. It was a lot more aggressive — it was aggressive,” the woman told CNN about the alleged 2019 rape.
“Did you say no?” host Pamela Brown asked her.
“Yes, I said no. In the flash that I can recall, I was pushing him off of me, saying ‘no,’” the woman replied.

Pelosi looked like she was running the same play by issuing an immediate statement demanding that Swalwell drop out of the race.
“This extremely sensitive matter must be appropriately investigated with full transparency and accountability,” Pelosi’s statement read. “As I discussed with Congressman Swalwell, it is clear that it is best done outside of a gubernatorial campaign.”
Other Democratic Party power players fell in line and followed suit.
