Democrats made huge promises to voters that they’ll never be able to keep.
They’re rapidly running out of options.
A Democrat strategist came to one conclusion that’s making Chuck Schumer panic.
Democrats only have a slim majority in the Senate; it’s split 50-50 but the Democrats have Vice President Kamala Harris’ tie-breaking vote.
But the Democrats have been pushing the narrative that American systems are evil and racist therefore there needs to be fundamental changes made to the system.
For President Joe Biden to keep his campaign promises he would need to pass legislation through Congress, but he doesn’t have the Senate votes to pass legislation without Republican support except through budget reconciliation.
This is putting Democrats in a bad position for the midterm elections.
Kelly Dietrich, a former Democratic fundraiser and founder of the National Democratic Training Committee, isn’t optimistic on Democrats’ chances.
“It’s just frustration,” Dietrich told Politico. “Even us realists want it to move faster.”
A Democratic strategist put it more vulgarly, that the party is “f—– in the midterms if we don’t get s— done soon.”
The honeymoon is over for the Biden administration and tensions are beginning to rise among Democrats as they struggle to get Biden’s agenda through.
Rep. Mondaire Jones “told President Joe Biden their party needed him more involved in passing voting legislation on the Hill,” the Associated Press reported. “In response? Biden ‘just sort of stared at me,’ Jones said, describing an ‘awkward silence’ that passed between the two.”
Biden’s stance on immigration is also problematic for Democrats since it makes neither radicals nor moderates happy.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) tweeted that Vice President Kamala Harris’ comments in the Northern Triangle were “disappointing.”
“Seeking asylum at any US border is a 100% legal method of arrival,” Ocasio-Cortez countered the vice president’s words.
Ocasio-Cortez is upset that Biden is even negotiating with Republicans.
“Pres. Biden & Senate Dems should take a step back and ask themselves if playing patty-cake w GOP Senators is really worth the dismantling of people’s voting rights, setting the planet on fire, allowing massive corporations and the wealthy to not pay their fair share of taxes, etc,” she tweeted.
A Gallup poll published last week shows that Democrats’ support for Congress is rapidly shrinking.
“After remaining fairly high from March through May, Democrats’ support for Congress has plunged between May and June after Congress failed to pass an infrastructure package, which had been Biden’s legislative priority this spring.”
Democrats promised big changes but they just don’t have the power to deliver which is disappointing to Democratic voters.
