Joe Biden is in a highly vulnerable position currently.
This may be just the opening that Kamala Harris was looking for.
A new poll just made it much easier for Kamala Harris to backstab Joe Biden.
During the Democratic primary Kamala Harris accused Joe Biden of being a racist.
The attack fell flat but it showed the cutthroat lengths that Harris would go to try and gain the presidency.
Despite being vice president, Kamala Harris is by no means certain of being the nominee in 2024. She’s unpopular, many lesser-known Democrats will try and replace her and Biden is still insisting that he might run again.
If Harris is able to assume the presidency before, that will place her in a far stronger position and with Biden’s frail mental and physical health, finding an excuse to replace Biden shouldn’t be hard.
The biggest obstacle in Harris’ way is that she needs to get the Democratic Party behind her.
Biden’s new poll numbers just made it a bit easier.
Biden’s job approval rating has sunk past his top deputies including Harris, a Gallup poll assessing national leadership for 2021 found on Monday.
“The slight majority of adults disapprove of the jobs Vice President Kamala Harris (54 percent) and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (53 percent) are doing, while 44 percent approve of each. Harris’ approval rating is on par with President Joe Biden’s 43 percent in the same poll.” Gallup reported.
“Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is viewed slightly more negatively than Harris and Biden, with 58 percent disapproving and 40 percent approving.”
The lack of trust between Harris and Biden can be clearly seen in the fact that they haven’t even discussed their future plans.
Harris told the Wall Street Journal in an interview in December that she and Biden have never talked about 2024.
“I’m not going to talk about our conversations, but I will tell you this without any ambiguity: We do not talk about nor have we talked about re-election, because we haven’t completed our first year and we’re in the middle of a pandemic,” she said.
Asked if she believes Biden will run again, Harris said, “I’ll be very honest: I don’t think about it, nor have we talked about it.”
Harris is only looking out for her own career.
President Biden knows that Harris could prove a danger to him which may be why his administration has increasingly sidelined her.
“Folks are definitely playing chess right now. They’re playing the long game and seeing how things develop and shift,” said Nina Smith, who has worked for Buttigieg and Stacey Abrams, to Politico.
