Polls show Democrats do not want Joe Biden to run for re-election in 2024.
But that does not mean the party is willing to roll the dice with Kamala Harris as their standard bearer in 2024.

Liberal comedian Bill Maher urged Democrats to make a change on the 2024 ticket or risk losing to Donald Trump.
Maher acknowledged that no matter how badly Joe Biden failed or how low his poll numbers sunk it is impossible to take the nomination away from him if Biden chooses to seek a second term.
However, Maher said past presidents looking at a tough re-election campaign shook up the ticket and dropped the vice president.
“It’s just very hard to take the nomination away from the president…Sitting president. And what I could see is replacing the vice president because… Yeah, she’s just not very popular anywhere. And it didn’t seem to work out. And I don’t know, that it’s been done before on a ticket, you know. I mean, a lot of people were—” Maher began.
Atlantic Magazine writer Caitlin Flanagan interjected with her agreement noting that Harris was never a popular or capable politician who would crumble under the weight of a presidential campaign.
Flanagan pointed to a famous moment in a 2020 Democrat Party presidential debate where Tulsi Gabbard destroyed Harris over her record on crime.
“Tulsi Gabbard, remember, that was that moment in the debate where she brought up these there are men and women in California that are in prison for these, you know, pot deals. And then she was laughing about getting high on the radio station. And it was just like Tulsi Gabbard was like this heat-seeking missile. That was the end of it. You know, she’s got a lot of… In addition to being, for some reason, an off-putting person. She, she also has, I think, a lot of baggage that probably wouldn’t do well under a lot of scrutiny,” Flanagan stated.
Maher expressed his belief that Harris is just an incompetent politician who lacks the requisite skills to win a national election and that Democrats tip-toed around the fact that the party could get stuck with her in 2024 because of identity politics.
“I just think she’s a bad politician. And I mean, I don’t think, I think she’s a very bright person, but I don’t know, just see. But I can see them doing that because a lot of the problem with Biden being old is, oh, if he dies, then you know, you’re going to get this person. Okay. So here’s the problem with the Democratic Party. They’re so boxed in by identity politics that you cannot conceive of a Democratic ticket that doesn’t have a woman person of color on it. And pretty soon you’re going to line up behind that gay Latino, and you’re going to have to have, you know, a deaf Eskimo, maybe…” Maher concluded.
Joe Biden did not pick Kamala Harris because she had a strong base of support or ran an inspiring campaign.
Harris dropped out of the Democrat primary in 2019 months before the first votes were cast after her poll numbers and fundraising sunk to nearly zero.
Biden only picked Harris because she checked the right demographic boxes as a black woman.
And Bill Maher believes this slavish devotion to woke ideology will saddle Democrats with a completely unelectable candidate in 2024.
