Rush Limbaugh gave immeasurable help to the conservative movement.
His life left a huge impact on the world.
A top Republican has a huge plan to honor Rush Limbaugh’s life and legacy.
Rush Limbaugh, who passed away on February 17, 2021, spent more than 30 years carving out a space for conservative media.
His famed radio talk show, “The Rush Limbaugh Show,” broke the monopoly that mainstream media had on the news.
Limbaugh provided a voice for millions of ordinary Americans who had been ignored for decades.
He empowered his audience by taking complex subjects and addressing them in a down-to-earth manner, paving the way for other conservatives. If it hadn’t been for Rush Limbaugh, Fox News would not exist today.
On February 4, 2020, President Donald Trump awarded Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the nation’s highest civilian honor, as a surprise during the President’s State of the Union address after Limbaugh’s cancer diagnosis.
Fox News’s Sean Hannity revealed that Limbaugh went through cancer “treatments that nearly killed him” just to spend more time with his audience.
Now Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO) introduced a resolution honoring the life and legacy of Limbaugh.
“Rush Limbaugh’s importance to the conservative movement cannot be overstated,” Lamborn told The Daily Wire. “This is why I introduced a resolution highlighting his numerous achievements and his remarkable life. Liberals often criticized his jests and words with anger and without acknowledging his free speech rights. Rush Limbaugh was a patriot, and his voice will truly be missed. His legacy will not be forgotten.”
Forty-three cosponsors added their name to the resolution which recognizes Limbaugh for “his career and contributions to radio broadcasting and the conservative movement.”
The move to honor Rush Limbaugh’s legacy is also happening on a state level.
In addition, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered the flags across the state to lower to half-staff to honor Limbaugh, who was a resident of the state.
“What we do when there’s things of this magnitude, once the date of internment for Rush is announced, we’re going to be lowering the flags to half-staff,” DeSantis said at a political rally in West Palm Beach.
In a statement, DeSantis called Limbaugh the “greatest of all time,” not only in radio but also in conservative media.
“Rush busted through a media landscape in which a handful of media outlets served up pre-cooked, liberal narratives,” DeSantis said. “By providing a fresh, conservative perspective, Rush attracted millions of listeners and paved the way for the proliferation of conservative media. Rush was no flash in the pan — he was the dominant force in radio for decades.”
