Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is going to end up with egg on her face.
It won’t be the first time Ocasio-Cortez embarrassed herself in public.
And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is trying to hide one fact from you that every American must know.
In one state Republicans scored a good outcome on election night.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin came within five points of defeating incumbent Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul.
By running such a competitive race Zeldin’s coattails extended to down-ballot Republicans allowing the GOP to flip four Democrat-held House seats.
As things stand, Zeldin’s strength in New York appears to have put Republicans over the top in winning a majority in the House of Representatives.
Zeldin made New York City’s surging crime and Hochul’s support for no-cash bail – which allows violent criminals to walk right back out on the street after being arrested – the focus of his campaign.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez set the Democrats on this disastrous course on law-and-order issues by loudly demanding the party support defunding the police during the Black Lives Matter riots in the summer of 2020.
During an interview on “The Breakfast Club” radio program Ocasio-Cortez tried to claim rising crime rates were a dastardly fiction cooked up by the GOP to scare voters before the election.
Ocasio-Cortez tried to maintain some credibility by admitting that crime on subway platforms was up as the preface for falsely claiming that overall violent crime was down.
“A lot of people think that crime is up, when we actually see that shootings are down, when we see that huge indicators on the most violent crime in New York City is down,” Ocasio-Cortez stated.
Ocasio-Cortez outrageously claimed subway crime being up meant that deploying more police officers to the platforms was a failed policy.
“Subway crime is up. But let’s also note that subway crime is up after they committed so many more officers to the subway system. So that also tells us from a policy perspective, adding more cops to the subway isn’t solving this problem,” Ocasio-Cortez continued.
New York City’s own numbers show Ocasio-Cortez was lying.
The government’s report for September found the overall crime index up 15 percent year-over-year with five of the seven violent crime indexes seeing an increase.
“Overall index crime in New York City increased in September 2022, by 15.2% compared with September 2021 (11,057 v. 9,596). Five of the seven major index-crime categories saw increases, driven by a 22.7% increase in burglary (1,409 v. 1,148), a 21.5% increase in grand larceny auto (1,215 v. 1,000), and a 21.3% increase in grand larceny (4,552 v. 3,753),” the city’s crime report noted.
Ocasio-Cortez wants to shift the blame away from law-and-order issues because New York Democrats embracing her anti-police and soft-on-crime policies led to defeats across the state that cost Democrats the majority.
