Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is on a collision course with reality.
The Freshman Democrat has already emerged as one of the most radical members of Congress after just six months on the job.
And now, Ocasio-Cortez has thrown away her entire career after making these outrageous comments about the Holocaust.
Freshman Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is sparking outrage across the world after comparing President Trump’s efforts to combat illegal immigration to Nazi Germany’s systematic murder of millions of Jewish people during the Holocaust.
And now, Holocaust commemoration groups are urging Ocasio-Cortez to pick up a history book and educate herself on the reality of what the Nazis tried to accomplish over 70 years ago, and how that has nothing in common with President Trump’s efforts to protect America’s borders.
The Hill reports, “A Holocaust commemoration group on Friday invited Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) to tour the Nazi death camp Auschwitz with a 93-year-old survivor.”
“Jonny Daniels, the founder of From the Depths, wrote the open invitation to the progressive freshman asking her to participate in the educational tour during her summer recess from Congress,” adds the Hill.
So far, over 20 other members of Congress from both sides of the political aisle have taken this tour, though Ocasio-Cortez has not.
“The opportunity you will have of visiting the German Nazi Concentration Camps along with Mr. Mosberg, a 93 year old survivor of history’s most brutal genocidal regime, will enable you to become a witness of a witness, something that our generation will sadly be the last to do, as result of the fact that the survivors are passing away at an ever increasing rate,” Daniels wrote in his invitation to Ocasio-Cortez.
“The offer comes after Ocasio-Cortez faced fierce backlash from Republicans and some Democrats for comparing the Trump administration’s migrant detention centers along the U.S.-Mexico border with Nazi-era concentration camps throughout Europe, where millions of Jews were murdered,” adds the Hill.
Ocasio-Cortez has since doubled down on the comments, however, vowing to “never apologize” for comparing the Trump administration’s detention centers for illegal aliens to the concentration camps of Nazi Germany.
“I will never apologize for calling these camps what they are. If that makes you uncomfortable, fight the camps – not the nomenclature,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in a statement from her office.
Her office has refused to comment on the invitation regarding the proposed trip to Europe to visit the camps.
While it’s unclear whether or not Ocasio-Cortez will ever visit Auschwitz or the other camps where the Holocaust took place, her comments have already caused lasting damage to her political career.
And the impact they will have on her and candidates she supports could be enormous for years to come.
It shows just how little Ocasio-Cortez actually knows about history, and how eager she is to use cheap political attacks on the President by comparing him to Nazis even when the evidence is clear that the two are nothing alike.
Do you think Ocasio-Cortez should apologize for her comments about concentration camps?
