The Democrats’ political position quickly deteriorated.
Nothing went right and the party suffered defeat after defeat.
And now this unanswered question from Kamala Harris is very bad news for Democrats in 2024.
There is a reason the Biden administration squirrels Kamala Harris away from the public as much as possible.
Unless Harris reads from a script, Harris falls apart when reporters asked even the gentlest questions.
But with the Biden administration taking on water and the left’s number one policy goal – legislation to open elections up to massive fraud – dying a slow death in the Senate, Biden’s handlers felt they had no choice but to put Harris out in front of the cameras.
The administration selected pro-Biden NBC and friendly liberal Craig Melvin to interview Harris.
But even this softball chat flew off the rails.
Melvin offered up a softball for Harris to put to bed rumors that Joe Biden was too senile to run again in 2024 and that Harris was too unpopular to remain on the ticket.
“Are we going to see the same Democratic ticket in 2024?” Melvin asked Harris.
Harris flubbed this simple question by rambling on incoherently about welfare programs for children.
“I’m sorry,” Harris replied. “We are thinking about today. I mean, honestly, I know why you’re asking the question because this is the part of the punditry and the gossip around places like Washington, D.C. Let me just tell you something — we’re focused on the things in front of us. We’re focused on what we need to do to address issues like affordable childcare –”
Melvin knew Harris was drowning and jumped in to throw Harris a lifeline.
“So, there have been no conversations about 2024?” Melvin followed up hoping Harris would seize on the opportunity to take a second swing at the question.
But a clueless Harris botched her answer a second time.
“The American people sent us here to do a job, and right now, there’s a lot of work to be done. And that’s my focus,” Harris shot back.
A recent Quinnipiac poll found just 33 percent of Americans approve of Joe Biden’s job as president.
High-quality polling continues to show Biden’s job approval number nose-diving with no sign that the floor is in sight.
USA Today/Suffolk polling found only 28 percent of Americans approve of Kamala Harris as vice president.
There is an open question if either Harris or Biden will be on the ticket in any capacity in 2024.
Such a scenario would create a wide-open Democrat primary while on the Republican side Donald Trump would likely cruise to victory allowing Trump to shift into the general election faster and with a united party behind him.
Melvin practically begged Harris to offer reassurance to Democrats that Biden and Harris possess the political strength and will to take on Trump.
But Harris failed on multiple attempts.
And this lack of political instincts and skill are why many Democrats privately fear the prospect of Harris leading the ticket against Trump in 2024.
