All hell is breaking loose around New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Cuomo is fighting for his political survival as multiple crises envelop him.
And now Andrew Cuomo’s sex scandal took a bad turn when this woman stepped forward.
25-year-old former Cuomo aide Charlotte Bennett became the second woman to lodge sexual harassment allegations against Governor Cuomo.
In an interview with The New York Times, Bennett recounted sexually suggestive conversations between her and Governor Cuomo that Bennett said made her feel uncomfortable and that Cuomo was trying to initiate a sexual relationship.
Bennett worked as a health policy advisor to Governor Cuomo and as part of Cuomo’s coronavirus response task force.
In the interview, Bennett told the Times that on June 5, Cuomo engaged her in a lengthy conversation where Bennett claimed Cuomo peppered her with questions about her sex life and if she dated older men.
“But, Ms. Bennett said, the governor also started to ask questions about her personal life, including whether she was romantically involved, whether she was monogamous in her relationships and whether she had ever had sex with older men…
“…He asked me if I believed if age made a difference in relationships and he also asked me in the same conversation if I had ever been with an older man,” the Times exclusively reported.
Bennett added that the then-62-year-old Cuomo told her that “he’s fine with anyone above the age of 22.”
When Bennett was asked if she felt Cuomo was trying to sleep with her, she told the Times “that’s absolutely how it felt.”
Cuomo denied the allegations in a statement released to the public.
“I never made advances toward Ms. Bennett nor did I ever intend to act in any way that was inappropriate.” Cuomo added, “The last thing I would ever have wanted was to make her feel any of the things that are being reported.”
But Cuomo also finessed his denial stating that Bennett was a “hard-working and valued member of our team during COVID” in the Cuomo administration.
Cuomo’s statement also declared that Bennett “has every right to speak out.”
“The last thing I would ever have wanted was to make her feel any of the things that are being reported.”
Cuomo’s political situation appears to be deteriorating.
On “Fox News Sunday,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki stated that the Biden administration supported an independent investigation into the allegations against Cuomo.
New York Democrat Assemblywoman Alessandra Biaggi released a lengthy statement declaring that enough was enough and that Governor Cuomo must resign.
Cuomo was expected to cruise to a fourth term next November.
But now it is an open question if he will even appear on the ballot.
