Ann Coulter is the unapologetic voice that America needs right now.
She tells the world what she believes no matter who it offends.
And she just dropped a truth bomb that could end the caravan.
Trump’s Biggest Policy Change Is Coming
There is one thing Trump says he is doing that would change the entire country for the better.
That is putting an end to birthright citizenship.
Birthright citizenship grants citizenship to anybody born in the United States.
So all an illegal immigrant needs to do is birth their child on U.S. soil for their child to become a U.S. citizen.
This policy stems from the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment.
And its adoption came after the Civil War.
It was a way to grant freed slaves U.S. citizenship.
Its intention was never to allow illegal migrants to gain citizenship by birthing their children on U.S. soil.
And Trump has announced he is going to do away with it using an executive order.
And he has good reason to do so.
Needless to say, Democrats are furious at this move.
They believe it is an attack on the Constitution.
But as Ann Coulter points out, in a way that only she can, it is far from that.
Ann Coulter Explains The Truth
Most people pushing birthright citizenship believe it is a right enshrined in the constitution.
So in destroying it, they claim it is an attack on the foundation of our country.
But in reality, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
In reality, it was only adopted after the civil war, and only for the purpose of granting citizenship to freed slaves.
This proven by a little-known court case 1844.
As Coulter points out:
“In 1884, 16 years after the 14th Amendment was ratified, John Elk, who — as you may have surmised by his name — was an Indian, had to go to the Supreme Court to argue that he was an American citizen because he was born in the United States.”
Continuing, she says:
“He lost. In Elk v. Wilkins, 112 U.S. 94, the Supreme Court ruled that the 14th Amendment did not grant Indians citizenship.”
This means that, according to Supreme Court precedent, illegal immigrants should not be granted U.S. citizenship.
But you are unlikely to hear this from anybody on the left, or even the establishment of the Republican Party.
What Ann Coulter’s Claims Mean For The Caravan
That’s because this means bad news for the caravan of illegals coming to the U.S. border.
While they are seeking asylum, they may try to illegally cross into the U.S.
They already crossed illegally into Mexico, so there’s a big chance they’ll do it again.
If they are able to cross illegally, all they need to do is birth a child to gain access to welfare programs.
They can completely avoid the well-established immigration system using birthright citizenship.
But before they can do that, they need to cross into the U.S.
Trump is already working to stop them.
Once they are in, Trump can use the precedent to keep them from misusing birthright citizenship.
