The Obamas are putting American police in danger with their reckless racist charges.
They’ll watch American cities burn if it helps them reach their political goals.
Barack and Michelle Obama came out with a disturbing accusation against the police.
Daunte Wright was killed Sunday after an encounter with the police who had a warrant out for his arrest for a misdemeanor weapons charge. He resisted arrest and was shot as he reentered his car.
The police chief published body camera footage and noted that the officer appeared to accidentally draw her gun instead of a taser to subdue Wright.
Ex-Brooklyn Center Police Officer Kim Potter has been formally charged with second-degree manslaughter for the shooting and death of Daunte Wright.
Yet although such incredibly rare events can be dealt with on an individual level by the justice system, former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama said that Wright’s death should cause America to “reimagine policing.”
“Our hearts are heavy over yet another shooting of a Black man, Daunte Wright, at the hands of police,” the Obamas said in a statement, describing the shooting as proof of “just how badly we need to reimagine policing and public safety in this country.”
“Michelle and I grieve alongside the Wright family for their loss,” Obama said. “We empathize with the pain that Black mothers, fathers, and children are feeling after yet another senseless tragedy.”
“[W]e will continue to work with all fair-minded Americans to confront historical inequities and bring about nationwide changes that are so long overdue,” they said.
Barack Obama also supported a change in policing after the death of George Floyd.
“[T]hey’re the result of a long history of slavery and Jim Crow and red lining and institutionalized racism that too often have been the plague, the original sin of our society,” he said during an online conversation on the issue.
The Washington Post’s database shows police fatally shot 25 unarmed black men in 2019. In a nation of 330 million people, that hardly shows a systematic problem.
While accidents and abuses do happen with police, stopping police from being able to do their jobs creates far bigger problems.
Since the Black Lives Matter protests started, homicides in America’s major cities have gone up by 30%.
There were 1,268 more homicides in the cities studied in 2020 versus 2019.
People die when police aren’t present in communities to fight crime.
The Democrats are prioritizing a small number of rare high-profile cases instead of looking after the general welfare of communities.
If the Obamas wanted to save lives, they would stand on the side of law and order instead of making a highly-charged anti-police statement while an American city is facing major riots.
