Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg were in serious damage control mode over the chemical spill in East Palestine, Ohio.
Americans were furious that Biden and Buttigieg ignored the disaster so they tried to blame Donald Trump to distract attention from themselves.
But a top Biden official debunked the claim that Donald Trump caused the Ohio train derailment.
Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg faced media and public criticism over ignoring the ecological disaster in East Palestine, Ohio.
The administration’s indifference to the plight of the heartland’s residents summed up decades of liberal indifference towards rural America.
Joe Biden refused to visit the disaster area and Pete Buttigieg only showed because Donald Trump visited first and embarrassed the administration by showing that Trump will always put the forgotten men and women of America first.
When Buttigieg did finally visit Buttigieg tried to politicize the disaster by falsely claiming the Trump administration caused the wreck by withdrawing an Obama-era rule that required electronically controlled pneumatic [ECP] brakes for trains carrying highly flammable material.
“One thing he can do is express support for reversing the deregulation that happened on his watch. I heard him say he had nothing to do with it, even though it was in his administration. So, if he had nothing to do with it and they did it in his administration against his will, maybe he can come out and say that he supports us moving in a different direction,” Buttigieg told reporters.
But even top Biden administration officials admitted Pete Buttigieg was lying.
In an interview on CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper,” National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chair Jennifer Homendy explained that what Buttigieg claimed was false.
Even anti-Trump host Jake Tapper admitted that the Norfolk Southern train that derailed in East Palestine would not have qualified as carrying highly flammable materials.
But Tapper asked, why not add the ECP brakes to all trains?
“Yet, even with the 20 cars with toxic materials under current safety rules, that train still did not qualify for designation as a ‘high-hazard flammable train,’ which would have gotten it, or required at least, a newer, safer braking system. So that rule, as it stands right now, clearly was inadequate for the citizens of East Palestine,” Tapper stated. “Why not add the newer braking system to any train carrying hazardous material, not just those with more than 20 cars of hazardous material?”
Homendy explained the NTSB tested that very scenario and found it would not have stopped derailments like the one in East Palestine.
“The NTSB has looked at electronically controlled pneumatic braking for a number of years and we did some testing, as well. Certainly, it would improve safety. But for this investigation and for this derailment, ECP brakes would not have prevented the derailment. The wheel bearing failed on car number 23. So, even with ECP brakes, the derailment would have occurred, the fire would have ensued and the five vinyl chloride tank cars would still have to be vented and burned,” Homendy responded.
Pete Buttigieg is a disaster Transportation secretary.
Joe Biden clearly only picked him because he checked an identity politics box as a homosexual.
Buttigieg knows he messed up by ignoring the East Palestine train derailment for nearly two weeks.
Rather than own up to his mistakes Buttigieg figured his allies in the press would carry the water on his lie that Trump’s deregulation agenda bore the responsibility for the train derailment.
But what Buttigieg did not count on was his own allies in the Biden administration telling the truth.
