Joe Biden has a commanding lead in the race for the Democrat nomination in 2020.
But it is appearing more and more likely that lead won’t stick around for long.
And he just got smacked with a racism scandal that will end his campaign.
Joe Biden has a long way to get into the White House, despite his current lead.
But that lead is beginning to slip away after the scandals that one would expect from a politician serving in the Senate for decades are coming to light.
And he just made things a whole lot worse at a fundraiser in New York.
The fundraiser, for donors who give $2,800, brought out a Frank Biden, unafraid to speak his mind.
And at the fundraiser, he praised segregationist politicians.
He listed segregationist lawmakers James Eastland of Mississippi and Herman Talmadge of Georgia as examples of “civility,” and remarked that Eastland “never called [him] boy.”
Now he is facing an onslaught of criticism.
The harshest of the criticism comes from his Democrat rival, Sen. Cory Booker.
“Vice President Biden’s relationships with proud segregationists are not the model for how we make America a safer and more inclusive place for black people, and for everyone,” Booker said.
In response to the criticisms, Biden continues to claim that he is a civil rights icon, who has long been fighting for equal rights.
But his record doesn’t reflect that grandiose view of himself.
In the mid-70’s Biden opposed de-segregating school buses, even going so far to say that segregation is a point of “black pride.”
“I think the concept of busing … that we are going to integrate people so that they all have the same access and they learn to grow up with one another and all the rest, is a rejection of the whole movement of black pride,” Biden said in 1975.
But it isn’t just his record from way back in the ’70s that is drawing ire from critics.
During the campaign of former President Barack Obama, Biden heaped praise at Obama, while seeming to insult the rest of the black community.
“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” Biden said.
He also went after the Indian-American community, stating that “you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.”
One must imagine what would happen if President Trump made similar comments.
The media would be in an uproar, demanding his immediate resignation.
But because Biden is in the Democrat Party, he is given a pass.
It doesn’t matter that throughout history it has been the Democrat Party oppressing African Americans.
After all, it is Democrats who overwhelmingly opposed the civil rights movement, and who fought against freeing slaves.
Not to mention the fact that the Ku Klux Klan was founded by Democrats.
Throughout history, Democrats have been embracing racist identity politics.
The only difference today is that they are embracing identity politics for everybody except white people.
Do you think Democrats are the real racists?
