Democrats think they may take control of both chambers of Congress this fall.
And the thought of becoming the next Senate Majority Leader has Democrat Chuck Schumer licking his lips.
But the devasting news Schumer received just crashed Democrats’ hopes in the U.S. Senate.
Mitch McConnell just Destroyed Democrats’ Dreams
October is a critical month for campaigns.
Especially for Democrat Senators in red states.
That’s ten seats Democrats must defend in states that President Trump won.
But Mitch McConnell destroyed their election dreams.
Instead of headed home to campaign in the final month before the elections, McConnell is keeping the Senate in session.
The less time Democrats are available to campaign, the less likely they are to win.
And keeping the Senate in D.C. for nearly four weeks of October will cost Democrats crucial campaigning time.
Mitch McConnell’s latest move is pure brilliance.
If Democrats win the House, they will impeach Trump.
And if they win the U.S. Senate, they may have a slim majority to remove Trump from office.
But McConnell’s plan to make the Senate work overtime may thwart this.
In fact, Politico’s headline said McConnell “screwed” over Democrats with this tactic.
But the truth is, Democrats have no one to blame but themselves.
Schumer’s Effort Backfires Big Time
Even before President Trump took office, Schumer pledged to be the leader of the resistance to Trump’s agenda.
It’s no wonder Schumer’s biggest fans are ANTIFA protestors.
But Senator Schumer’s obstructionism has finally caught up with him.
The biggest reason McConnell is forcing the Senate to remain in session is simple.
Schumer delayed every judicial nominee put forth by President Trump.
So much that the Senate is behind on confirming judges.
Currently, over two dozen judges are pending Senate confirmation.
Mitch McConnell Could Give Democrats an Ultimatum
Democrats realize they’re at the mercy of Mitch McConnell.
But McConnell may give them an out.
McConnell and Schumer may cut a deal to approve Trump’s judicial nominees.
If that happens, McConnell is likely to wrap up session.
This would allow Democrats time to campaign.
But, if Schumer strikes a deal with McConnell, it could still harm Democrats.
Liberals will be furious with Schumer for helping McConnell.
And that would leave the courts packed with Trump’s nominees.
This would leave liberals discouraged with Schumer’s leadership.
With at least 5 of the key Senate seats up for grabs rated as “toss-ups,” Democrats can’t afford to discourage their base.
So that means Democrats may double-down their efforts to block Trump’s nominees.
But Democrat Senators also can’t afford to miss campaign time.
Either way, President Trump and Mitch McConnell are in the driver’s seat.
And they could pack the courts with constitutional judges as a result.
While the Democrats could still see their chance of a midterm election sweep obliterated.
What do you think McConnell should do? Cut a deal and ram through Trump’s picks? Or keep the Senate in session the entire month of October and costs the Democrats the election?
