Democrats are still hoping to find a way to destroy Amy Coney Barrett.
But it’s not working out the way that they expected.
Chuck Schumer grew red when he heard these seven words of warning from Republicans.
Immediately after Amy Coney Barrett’s name was mentioned to fill the seat of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Democrats started their attacks.
This isn’t anything new for Barrett. When she was appointed to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in 2017, Sen. Dianne Feinstein attacked her on her Catholic faith.
“Why is it that so many of us on this side have this very uncomfortable feeling that dogma and law are two different things, and I think whatever a religion is, it has its own dogma. The law is totally different,” Feinstein told Barrett, a Notre Dame law professor. “And I think in your case, professor, when you read your speeches, the conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you. And that’s of concern.”
A Democrat told Barrett that holding Christian beliefs should disqualify her from being a federal judge.
The left has also attacked Barrett because she adopted two children from Haiti.
Neither the anti-religious attacks nor the underhanded personal ones are helping the Democrats in the polls.
The real reason Democrats hate the idea of Barrett is because they hate every conservative justice who is nominated to the Supreme Court because a conservative court limits the federal government to the powers that the Constitution spells out.
Sen. Lindsey Graham told that Democrats will try to “destroy Judge Barrett at their own peril.”
Graham noted that Democrats are under a huge amount of stress from their base to stop the nomination from moving forward.
“The pressure on these people on the Democratic side is enormous. Look at what they’re saying about President Trump. Look at what they’re saying about Judge Barrett. She’s an incredibly capable, well-qualified judicial nominee, somebody you would expect the Republicans to nominate to the court,” he said. “The storylines about her religion are already starting. The one thing I can tell every American, we have a constitutional provision that prevents your religious choice being used against you if you’re nominated to the Supreme Court or any other position in the government. And that’s a good thing. So, I don’t know where it’s going to go.”
The Democrats’ dirty tricks didn’t stop Brett Kavanaugh from being confirmed and their extremism hurt them in the midterm elections.
If Chuck Schumer and other Democrats are smart, they’ll accept Barrett’s confirmation with as much good grace as they can muster.
But the Democrats aren’t smart. At every point, they embrace extremism instead of holding to American values and upholding the Constitution.
