As Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer has a lot riding on stopping Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
If he can delay his vote long enough for Democrats to win back the Senate, he can block any Trump nominee he wants.
And in order to do that Chuck Schumer has a dirty trick up his sleeve that was just revealed.
When President Donald Trump chose Judge Brett Kavanaugh as his Supreme Court nominee, conservatives jumped for joy. Kavanaugh, who was the first choice of some conservative heavyweights like Ann Coulter, is sure to defend President Trump’s agenda on the Supreme Court.
That is why the left is so determined to stop him. They are hoping that if they can’t outright vote down Kavanaugh, that they can delay the vote until the upcoming midterm elections.
If Democrats are able to gain a majority in the Senate, they will be able to vote down any Trump pick that they don’t consider moderate enough.
In order to do that, they need to come up with as many negative things as possible to say about Kavanaugh.
And while him being pro-gun, pro-life, and anti-illegal immigration probably isn’t going to be enough ammo to stop him, making up phony claims to make him seem corrupt might.
While speaking on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” show, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer shed some light on the Democrat’s possible plan to stop Kavanaugh. Schumer was asked about if he believes Trump chose Kavanaugh because of past stated views that a president should not be subject to prosecution while in office.
In response to the question, Schumer mentioned how out of all the judges Trump had considered, Kavanaugh was the most extreme on that issue. And while he did not give a yes or no answer to the question, he alluded to the affirmative by stating, “Knowing Donald Trump, what do you think?”
While this is not clear evidence of a Democrat plan, it very obviously seems as though they are going to use this as a means towards at least delaying Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
For the past nearly two years, the one thing that Democrats have been talking about is their belief that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.
They are hoping more than anything that Robert Mueller’s investigation into him will prove that, and give the left the ability to kick Trump out of office.
So it wouldn’t be surprising in the least if that investigation was used as a tool to prevent Trump’s Supreme Court nominee from being confirmed.
But as it seems, that likely won’t work out. President Donald Trump has a Republican majority in the Senate, along with a two or three moderate Democrats who will likely side with him.
While Democrats are going to talk up the prospect of stopping Kavanaugh, it is very unlikely that they will be able to achieve that.
They have already tried to stop one of Trump’s Supreme Court nominees, and their plan failed spectacularly.
Do you think the Senate will confirm Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh?
