CNN was hiding a terrible secret.
The fake news anti-Trump cable channel bills itself as the “facts first” arbiter of truth in American politics.
But CNN’s boss slipped up and let the cat out of the bag on this truth that could bring down the network.
CNN head honcho Jeff Zucker appeared on former Obama chief strategist – and current CNN contributor – David Axelrod’s podcast “The Axe Files.”
Axelrod quizzed Zucker about his interest in politics and if he would still be running CNN in five years.
Zucker – whose contract was extended through 2020 – responded, “I still harbor somewhere in my gut that I’m still very interested in politics.”
That took many listeners by surprise.
But what left them floored was when Zucker did not shoot down speculation that he may one day run for office.
Axelrod brought up the fact that Zucker rejected an offer to walk for Al Gore’s ill-fated 2000 presidential campaign.
Zucker responded by revealing that running for office appealed to him as the next step in his career.
“So I’m still interested in that,” Zucker answered. “It’s something that I would consider.”
The CNN President joked that he would hire Axelrod to run his campaign.
“You know somebody that can help? You can put me in touch with the right people?” Zucker added.
Those comments added new context to CNN’s programming strategy.
The network is known to be a hive mind of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Every on-air host and reporter’s commentary drops with hatred for the President and his supporters.
Zucker tried to explain it to Axelrod as not being “anti-Trump” but framing the network’s coverage as “pro-truth.”
“We should always set out to be pro-truth,” Zucker declared. “And all I encourage our shows and our anchors to be, is to hold those in power accountable and tell the truth. If that comes off as anti-Trump, then that’s a byproduct of being pro-truth.”
But CNN’s version of “pro-truth” now needs to be seen in the light of it serving the interests of a network President who one day wants to run for office as a Democrat.
Zucker will never get anywhere in the Democrat Party if his network is fair to Trump.
Liberals will only tolerate complete hatred and disdain for Trump.
Given these facts, it’s easy to understand why CNN turned into a fake news outlet that traffics in outlandish conspiracy theories and debunked hoaxes about the President.
CNN continually feeds its dwindling liberal audiences a steady diet of misinformation and false stories.
In the last two years, CNN ran fake news stories about Jim Comey contradicting Donald Trump’s claims that Comey told him three times he was not the subject of a FBI investigation – in fact in Comey’s opening statement of his congressional testimony he confirmed this as fact.
CNN also pulled back a fake news story that claimed Donald Trump Jr. received advanced warning of WikiLeaks disclosing hacked emails.
The truth was CNN’s source lied to them and gave them an incorrect date of the message to Trump Jr. about WikiLeaks.
He received the tip on September 14, 2016 – not September 4, 2016 – which was after WikiLeaks made their disclosure known to the public.
The message also came from a random supporter and not a clandestine Russian intelligence operative as many in the fake news media hinted.
More recently, CNN was forced to retract a fake news story fed to them by Michael Cohen attorney Lanny Davis that Cohen could testify to the fact that Donald Trump knew in advance of the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting where Russians promised dirt on Hillary Clinton.
CNN tries to pass off these mistakes as “innocent.”
However, the “pro-truth” reality is that they are anything but simple errors.
Zucker is using CNN to advance the anti-Trump agenda and propaganda that the voters he wants to appeal to in the future demand.
He isn’t running a news outlet.
Zucker is running a messaging platform to position himself for a future run for office.
We will keep you up to date on any new developments in this ongoing story.
