CNN is facing another crisis.
This one is internal.
Now CNN is facing an investigation that revealed this ugly truth about the network.
Business Insider reporter Steven Perlberg broke a bombshell about CNN executives authorizing an internal investigation to examine the workplace culture.
“CNN has opened an internal investigation into the treatment of women and workplace culture at CNN Business, its digital unit covering tech, markets, and media, according to people familiar with the matter,” Perlberg posted on social media.
Perlberg added that no one individual has faced scrutiny.
“The assessment appears to be focused on workplace culture, not the behavior of an individual, according to two of the sources,” Perlberg said.
Perlberg interviewed a female CNN staffer who alleged that CNN executives never set clear guidelines on how to advance at the network in order to keep salaries as low as possible and that women felt that CNN did not foster a supportive environment.
“I’ve found there to be a lack of transparency in how to get promoted or how to appear on TV,” a female staffer told Perlberg. “I get the feeling the company wants to keep as many people as possible at a low pay grade or stay in a certain box and that has led to women not being supported.”
Perlberg’s reporting on an internal investigation at CNN came after former host Brooke Baldwin’s claims in a podcast interview.
“Let me lift the curtain a little bit,” Baldwin explained in an interview with the “On the Issues” podcast. “In that time, you know, the most influential anchors on our network, the highest-paid, are men. My bosses, my executives, are men. The person who oversees CNN Dayside is a man, and my executive producer for 10 years is a man. So I’ve been surrounded by a lot of men.”
CNN made hay over the last four years claiming that Donald Trump hated women and disrespected women.
But much like the “Me Too” movement exposed how so many so-called “male feminists” in the media and Hollywood were really a bunch of depraved sexual predators, Baldwin’s allegations showed the hypocrisy at the highest levels of CNN.
CNN executives launched an internal investigation in response.
The real question will be if this is some kind of face-saving, corporate CYA exercise or if it will be a real investigation that confirms CNN executives unfairly held down women employees from receiving promotions and achieves real change.
Baldwin’s allegations and ensuing internal investigation are another black eye for CNN coming on the heels of Project Veritas obtaining hidden camera footage of CNN technical director Charlie Chester admitting CNN acted like a Democrat Party propaganda machine to drive Donald Trump out of office.
