Democrats can’t seem to follow the law.
But in the Trump era, they are finally facing punishment for their wrongdoings.
And a top Democrat Governor just got smacked with an investigation that will end their career.
There is no politician in America richer than Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker.
He is the billionaire heir of the Hyatt Hotel fortune, and one of the biggest players in the Democrat Party.
But like virtually any Democrat with a lot of money, he is a complete hypocrite.
Out of one side of his mouth, he screams for more government intervention in the economy. But out of the other side of his mouth, he skirts as many laws as he can to enrich himself.
But now his wrongdoings are catching up to him, and a federal investigation is officially looking into property tax fraud.
Pritzker agreed to refund a $330,000 property tax break last year after being exposed in a scheme to defraud the county government.
The scheme involves him disabling the toilets in his 12,500-square-foot mansion in Chicago in order to declare the building uninhabitable, so he can pay lower taxes.
This scandal has been unraveling for some time, with his Republican opponent capitalizing on it, referring to Pritzker as the “porcelain prince.”
“Simple fact, four of my nine predecessors as governor went to jail.” Former Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner said. “Mr. Pritzker has a very good chance of being No. 5.”
It is true that Illinois has a long history of Governors ending up behind bars.
The most infamous of those figures is Rod Blagojevich, who is currently serving out a 14-year prison sentence.
The former Democrat Governor’s charges include crimes relating to bribery and fraud, including soliciting bribes for who he would appoint to Barack Obama’s Senate seat after his election as President.
Now Pritzker is under federal investigation for his alleged crimes.
Along with the governor, his wife, and her assistant, Christine Lovely are caught up in the scandal.
According to the Cook County inspector general report, Lovely made “false representations” on tax appeal documents.
Lovely is using the same lawyer that Blagojevich was using in his corruption trial, Reid Schar.
And the Pritzker family is using a top Democrat lawyer, Marc Elias, as their representation.
Elias contends their innocence, speaking to WBEZ.
“Neither the Governor nor the First Lady have been contacted by law enforcement regarding the property tax appeal,” Elias said. “We are confident that any further review of the matter will show that the appropriate rules were followed.”
It is unclear if this matter will result in any criminal convictions, but regardless, it isn’t going to be good for Pritzker’s political future.
Illinois doesn’t have a good record of former Governors when it relates to corruption.
The entire state and particularly Chicago are world famous for shady political tricks.
It is where former President Obama got his start in politics, and all of America knows how that ended up working out.
Do you think Pritzker should resign?
