Joe Biden is in trouble.
His re-election chances are collapsing fast.
And now, this top Democrat operative just destroyed Joe Biden’s 2024 campaign.
Joe Biden’s 2024 re-election campaign is only just beginning, but there are significant problems already popping up which could prevent his campaign from even getting off the ground.
Not only is Biden deeply unpopular and has a record which makes him extremely vulnerable in 2024, but he’s now facing growing pushback from members of his own party who do not think Biden is up to the task for running for another term in 2024.
And now, one top Democrat campaign operative is speaking out and questioning whether or not Biden is even capable of seeking re-election.
Fox News reports, “Former adviser to President Barack Obama David Axelrod told the New York Times that the midterm elections gave President Biden ‘a little giddyup in his step’ but that his age was likely still a factor.”
“If he were 60 and not 80, there would be absolutely no doubt,” Axelrod said, downplaying Biden’s chances of winning re-election.
According to Axelrod, the midterm elections have shrouded just how unprepared Biden truly is to run for a second term.
Because Democrats did better than the media expected, many within the corporate press now think that Biden has significant momentum going into his own re-election bid.
But Democrats holding the Senate doesn’t mean that Biden has managed to solve any of the issues facing his own campaign, and it also doesn’t change the fact that Biden’s age is a growing worry for many Democrats.
But Axelrod isn’t the only one sharing his apprehension regarding Biden’s chances.
“Democratic National Committee member Shelia Huggins also expressed concern for the president’s age but praised Biden’s record,” adds Fox News.
“I just still have some concerns about him running again. Part of it does have to do with his age,” Huggins said.
With senior campaign strategists and party operatives alike expressing their concerns regarding Biden’s potential re-election, it is clear that many Democrats are beginning to push back against the possibility that the party should put Biden forward as their standard bearer in 2024.
“Most people in this country don’t know many 80-year-olds that can run the entire country,” said Democratic strategist Tyler Jones. “That’s not to say that they don’t exist, and it’s not to say that he can’t do it, but it is a very rare thing. And so the burden, unlike most presidents, the burden is on Biden to show the country that he can not just win in ’24, but lead for the next four years.”
The growing number of Democrats coming out against simply automatically re-nominating Joe Biden and even going so far as to suggest that he isn’t even capable of seeking the party’s nomination, let alone win the presidency, suggests that Biden’s lock on his own party’s support in 2024 is a long way off.
This could open up the possibility that Democrats could potentially put forward someone else, such as Kamala Harris.
