While Republicans are beginning to unite behind the President, Democrats are more divided than ever.
The only thing they all agree on is their dislike of President Trump.
But that won’t be enough to stop the civil war that is forming over something insane.
There are currently two wings of the Democrat Party.
On one side is the establishment old guard of the party.
And on the other side is the progressive wing, which leans much further left.
The most vocal part of that new wing is soon-to-be Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
She has been having a historic rise in the party after defeating Rep. Joe Crowley earlier this year.
Crowley is one of the top-ranking Democrats in the Party, with being Speaker of the House in his likely future before Ocasio-Cortez came along.
His defeat is a massive blow to the Democrat establishment and signifies a rapidly changing Democrat Party.
In the past, Democrats were fairly moderate on many issues.
They even used to sound similar to President Trump on issues like illegal immigration just a decade ago.
But now they are mixed on the issues.
The overall consensus of the party is to favor illegal immigration and support socialist economic programs.
And the difference between the two wings of the party is how far they go on those issues.
The progressives support abolishing ICE, and opening the borders, while the establishment refuses to, at least publicly, go that far.
And on the economy, the progressives openly support socialism.
Some Democrats are even willing to describe themselves as such, with Sen. Bernie Sanders considering himself a Democratic Socialist.
The biggest policy proposal from the progressive wing is the “Green New Deal.”
It is a confusing proposal, but the biggest part of it is a required push towards 100% renewal energy by 2030.
In doing so, Democrats like Ocasio-Cortez believe it will create massive new energy with new jobs.
But it has been proving that so-called “renewable energy” is simply more expensive, and can only be seen as sustainable through government meddling to force traditional energy sources to be too expensive.
Cities like Georgetown, Texas are a great example of how these pushes are actually extremely harmful to the economies.
At the local level, it forced the city into massive debt.
Instead of heeding that warning, Democrats are looking to have the same problems at a nationwide scale.
Because of how radical the proposed changes are, establishment Democrats like Nancy Pelosi are having a hard time backing it.
If implemented, it would be extremely harmful to working class economies, making elections very difficult for Democrats trying to court working-class voters.
Currently, progressive Democrats are demanding a “strong” climate committee, so the Green New Deal can be given more priority.
They are threatening Democrats who they believe will stand in the way.
Supporters of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez even held a sit-in in Pelosi’s office recently on this issue.
It is very likely to create a major divide in the party, which will be devastating in 2020.
Do you think Democrats are going to be able to unite by 2020?
