There’s nothing Democrats won’t do to spite President Trump.
Their vitriolic hatred has turned much of America against them.
And they just proposed one thing that will make everyone in America less safe just to spite Trump.
2018 could be the year that the Democrat Party dies. Reports are coming out that the Democratic National Committee is “dead broke” proving that their strategy of defying President Trump isn’t working.
But instead of reflecting and considering a change, they are doubling down in their anti-Trump rhetoric.
Their latest anti-Trump attack was attacking President Trump for separating families at the border, something that former President Obama also did.
Even with polling showing that their rhetoric on that issue isn’t working they have continued.
Not only have they continued pushing that narrative, they have doubled down, with some Democrats calling for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Much of what ICE does is assist in border protection, but they are also the leading agency cracking down on human and drug trafficking.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York has called for the abolition of ICE, stating that we “should get rid of it.”
And she’s not alone, Sen. Kamala Harris has also alluded towards her belief it should be abolished, stating that they should “probably” start from scratch on immigration enforcement.
Sen. Bernie Sanders has even made it clear that he was at least open to the idea at one point, making it clear that he voted in 2002 against the law that paved the way for ICE.
All three of these Senators are being floated as possible 2020 challengers to President Trump, making it clear that the Democrats are shifting to a more extreme position on immigration than ever before.
Their calls all relate around ICE’s deportation policy, but they all seem to ignore the fact that ICE is the leading agency fighting back against human trafficking at the border.
Human trafficking at the border is what fuels the illegal sex trade in the United States, and many of the victims being trafficked are children.
Without ICE that problem would be exasperated, and sex traffickers would lose their biggest obstacle in crossing the border illegally.
What many people seem to forget when we talk about border protection is that while many of the people crossing the border are doing it at their own free will, many are not.
Allowing anybody to cross the border unhindered is also allowing those coming against their will to be brought across, and exploited much easier.
In 2016 ICE led operations that resulted in 1,952 human trafficking arrests. And while more recent numbers are not available, ICE has increased their operations since then and has become more effective in their enforcement.
With all the anti-ICE rhetoric being thrown around in wake of Trump’s zero tolerance policy at the border; this one fact is being ignored by many.
Bringing an end to human trafficking at the border should be a non-partisan issue, but it is seeming to become partisan in the wake of irresponsible calls against ICE.
Do you support ICE in their fight to stop human trafficking?
