Devin Nunes is the deep state’s worst nightmare.
Using his position on the House Intelligence Committee, he works day and night to make sure the truth comes forward.
And he just revealed his smoking gun that will destroy Mueller for good.
Despite Robert Mueller’s report being complete, and proving that Trump did nothing wrong, there are still a lot of questions.
Democrats don’t want to ask any real questions, and instead want to do their own digging into subjects unrelated to Russia collusion.
But Rep. Devin Nunes isn’t letting them off that easily.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff is holding hearings on Mueller’s investigation, specifically looking into “counterintelligence implications” of the report.
Democrats are hoping to make the case that through communications between Trump associates and so-called Russian assets make the president vulnerable to the Kremlin.
But they are going to have a difficult time making that case with Nunes shaking things up with a new revelation.
Nunes claims that the main “Russian asset” Democrats are going to focus on is not in fact a Russian asset, but that he is affiliated with Western intelligence agencies.
The figure in question is Joseph Mifsud, the Maltese professor that allegedly met with Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos to offer him “dirt” on Hillary Clinton.
In Mueller’s report, it is claimed that Mifsud is a Russian asset.
And if that is true, it allows Democrats to claim that there was communication between Russians and the Trump campaign.
But Nunes casts serious doubt on that.
“He is the first person that we know on earth that supposedly knows something about the Russians having Hillary’s emails,” Nunes told FOX News’ Shannon Bream in an interview Monday. “He has since denied that but Mueller in his report claimed that Mifsud was or insinuated that Mifsud was some sort of Russian asset. Well, we know that this is not the case. In fact, we know that he was in the U.S. Capitol just months into the Russia investigation, just steps away from the House Intelligence Committee.”
Nunes insists that Mifsud cannot be a Russian asset considering he has a history of working with, and training FBI agents.
“He is a former diplomat with the Malta government,” Nunes stated. “He lived in Italy. He worked and taught FBI, trained FBI officials, and worked with FBI officials.”
Nunes also claims that if Mifsud is in fact a Russian asset, it means that dozens of Western institutions could be compromised, including the U.S. State Department.
The fact that nobody is looking into that makes it extremely likely that the claim of him being a Russian asset is only meant to hurt Donald Trump.
In the absence of proof of collusion, it appears that Robert Mueller may be making things up.
And Devin Nunes isn’t going to let him get away with that.
