Donald Trump is giving East Palestine more attention and help than the Biden administration.
The residents of the small town have been struggling since the toxic train derailment.
Donald Trump said that a top Democrat has turned America into a “third-world nation.”
On Wednesday former President Donald Trump blasted Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg while visiting East Palestine, where the former president delivered truckloads of thousands of bottles of water.
“We’re like a third-world nation, and this is an example of it, the breakdown. Our whole country is breaking down,” Trump said while hanging out with residents of East Palestine in a McDonald’s on Wednesday.
At McDonald’s Trump bought lunch for first responders and everyone at the restaurant.
“So is everybody willing to accept free food from Trump?” the 45th president asked upon walking into the McDonald’s off Market Street in East Palestine, Ohio.
“We’re going to take care of the fire department, we’re going to take care of the police department, plus the people that are in here. They’re going to get a nice, free meal,” Trump was heard telling the McDonald’s cashier.
Trump added that Buttigieg “should have been here a long time ago.”
The former president continued that Buttigieg really needs to “look at the airports, because I have people that are taking planes, and they’re delayed. They’re waiting in an airport for three days. It’s crazy what’s happening.”
Trump also slammed Biden for not visiting the town dealing with the catastrophic aftermath of the February 3 train derailment.
“I think he should’ve come here. I think he should’ve been here. He should’ve been here, and he chose to go a different route,” President Trump told Breitbart News during the visit.
Buttigieg only abruptly decided to go to East Palestine after Trump made his visit to the town.
The Transportation secretary claimed he was balancing his “desire to be involved and engaged and on the ground” with his “desire to follow the norm” and let the National Transportation Safety Board handle the incident.
“I think the most important thing is, first of all, making sure that the residents here have what they need,” he commended, “and making sure we do something for the future.”
Residents of East Palestine weren’t impressed with the visit from Buttigieg according to interviews with Fox News.
“They always say they care about the forgotten and ‘the little guy.’ They don’t care,” one resident said. “When they care about the people is when they’re on TV. That’s when they care about us,” said another. “When it comes to real solutions and real problems, they’re nowhere to be found.” A third citizen told the outlet that the arrival of Buttigieg was “way too late.”
