One of the most prominent members of the President’s administration has resigned.
The pressure became too much for her to bear.
Donald Trump was devastated when he learned this trusted ally is leaving.
Presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway made history in 2016 when she became the first woman to successfully run a presidential campaign.
Since then, she has been frequently in the public view as a staunch defender of President Trump against the mainstream media’s frequent attacks.
After serving as a presidential counselor for almost four years, she announced that she is leaving the White House “gratefully & humbly.”
“President Trump’s leadership has had a measurable, positive impact on the peace and prosperity of the nation, and on millions of Americans who feel forgotten no more,” Conway wrote in a statement.
She says that the change is needed to focus on her family.
“Our four children are teens and ‘tweens starting a new academic year, in middle school and high school, remotely from home for at least a few months. As millions of parents nationwide know, kids ‘doing school from home’ requires a level of attention and vigilance that is as unusual as these times. This is completely my choice and my voice.” Conway added, “In time, I will announce future plans. For now, and for my beloved children, it will be less drama, more mama.”
Conway also noted in her statement that her husband would also be making changes.
She and her husband George have made headlines in the last few years for their public disagreements over politics.
George Conway, who is a vocal critic of President Trump, and called him a “cancer on the presidency,” is also withdrawing from politics.
He claimed that Congress should impeach Trump for obstructing justice in the case of the Mueller report even though Mueller didn’t find any criminal behavior.
George Conway even attacked his wife and openly agreed with another Twitter user that his wife is both “an enabler” and also “a cheerleader” for Trump last year.
Trump has called George Conway a “stone cold LOSER & husband from hell.”
It seems that the Conways have made the decision to take a step back from politics together.
“So I’m withdrawing from @ProjectLincoln to devote more time to family matters. And I’ll be taking a Twitter hiatus. Needless to say, I continue to support the Lincoln Project and its mission. Passionately,” George Conway wrote in a tweet.
The Lincoln Project’s objective is to convince Republican voters to vote for Joe Biden.
The couple’s fifteen-year-old daughter told her father publicly on Twitter in July that she was “sorry your marriage failed” before her parents took away her social media accounts, also claiming that they were trying to silence her voice.
