Even the Democrats know that their impeachment is doomed to fail.
They know that they don’t stand a chance.
Donald Trump grinned from ear to ear when he learned this one impeachment fact.
The Democrats have “historically” impeached former President Donald Trump for the second time and the Senate trial started only after he left office.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) told Fox News Sunday that there is “zero” chance that Trump will be convicted.
The charge that the Democrats impeached Trump on is insane.
Inflammatory rhetoric is protected by the First Amendment and can’t be considered a “high crime.”
Paul pointed out to Fox that by the standards set by Democrats, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) would be guilty of inciting violence for comments against Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh during a pro-abortion rally.
“If we’re going to criminalize speech, and somehow impeach everybody who says, ‘Go fight to hear your voices heard,’ I mean really we ought to impeach Chuck Schumer then,” Paul said. “He went to the Supreme Court, stood in front of the Supreme Court, and said specifically, ‘Hey Gorsuch, Hey Kavanaugh, you’ve unleashed a whirlwind. And you’re going to pay the price.’”
“This inflammatory wording, this violent rhetoric of Chuck Schumer was so bad that the chief justice, who rarely says anything publicly, immediately said this kind of language is dangerous as a mob tried to invade the Supreme Court,” he continued.
Chief Justice John Roberts called the language “inappropriate” and “dangerous” and stated that at the time, Schumer was inviting a violence against Supreme Court justices if they did not vote to strike down the law. “All members of the court will continue to do their job, without fear or favor, from whatever quarter,” he said.
Schumer claimed that he was talking about Republicans in general paying a “political price.”
Paul thought it was clear that the same standard of incitement to violence could apply to Schumer’s statements as well as violent statements made by other members of Democratic leadership.
“People are going to have to judge for themselves…are we going to potentially prosecute people for political speech?” Paul added, noting that there is “zero” chance the former president will be convicted.
Paul added later in the interview that the upcoming trial was a “partisan farce.”
Chief Justice John Roberts won’t even be presiding over the Senate trial like the Constitution dictates should happen with a presidential impeachment, because it’s doubtful whether the impeachment trial is even legal.
If by a miracle the Democrats succeeded in convicting Trump, the case would go to the Supreme Court who decide whether it’s possible to impeach a president after he’s left office.
