Past elections have been defined by an “October surprise.”
2020 already proved that nothing is out of bounds and Americans should prepare for the mother of all last-minute shockers in the presidential contest.
And now Donald Trump hit Iran with a warning that could throw the election into chaos.
Donald Trump kicked off the New Year by announcing the U.S. military took out the world’s number one terrorist, Iran Revolutionary Guard General Qassem Soleimani.
Soleimani was responsible for ordering and planning attacks that were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American soldiers.
Despite the fake news media warning that World War III was right around the corner, Iran backed down after firing rockets at a military base while likely sending back channel warnings that the attack was coming so U.S. troops would not be in mortal danger.
But with the election less than 50 days away, POLITICO reported that Iran was plotting to kill the U.S. Ambassador to South Africa.
POLITICO exclusively reported:
The Iranian government is weighing an assassination attempt against the American ambassador to South Africa, U.S. intelligence reports say, according to a U.S. government official familiar with the issue and another official who has seen the intelligence…
… U.S. officials have been aware of a general threat against the ambassador, Lana Marks, since the spring, the officials said. But the intelligence about the threat to the ambassador has become more specific in recent weeks. The Iranian Embassy in Pretoria is involved in the plot, the U.S. government official said.
President Trump immediately responded on Twitter warning Iran that if they threatened a U.S. Ambassador’s life, the retribution would be swift and fierce.
“According to press reports, Iran may be planning an assassination, or other attack, against the United States in retaliation for the killing of terrorist leader Soleimani, which was carried out for his planning a future attack, murdering U.S. Troops, and the death & suffering caused over so many years. Any attack by Iran, in any form, against the United States will be met with an attack on Iran that will be 1,000 times greater in magnitude!” the President posted on social media.
But there are reasons to distrust the reporting from POLITICO on the threat by Iran to assassinate a U.S. Ambassador.
Critics contend that one of the reporters – Natasha Bertrand – was heavily involved in promoting the Russian collusion hoax and acted like a stenographer for Adam Schiff and Deep State conspirators.
If this report is accurate – and this is a big if – Iran could throw a massive wild card into the final days of the 2020 election by creating an international crisis.
