Donald Trump’s political future is the great unknown that hovers over both the Democrat and Republican Parties.
Now there is another big hint floating out into the political ether.
And Donald Trump is sitting on this 2024 bombshell that will change everything.
If Donald Trump runs for president again Trump is the favorite to win the GOP nomination.
In that event, Donald Trump will need to select a new running mate.
Mike Pence plans to challenge Trump for the nomination and Trump already wrote off Pence due to their differences over Pence’s role on January 6.
In 2018 and 2020 Donald Trump lost badly among college-educated suburban women.
That’s why many pundits believe if Trump is the GOP nominee in 2024 Trump will select a female running mate.
Much of the early speculation centered on Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, and former Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.
But now CNN is reporting a new Republican woman may be under consideration:
GOP House Conference Chair and New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik.
CNN reports:
While talk about a 2024 vice presidential pick is of course premature, conversations about adding Stefanik to a future Trump ticket have gained steam in recent weeks at Mar-a-Lago and in other Republican circles, sources said. Current and former advisers and others in Trump’s orbit have privately argued that the New York Republican, who replaced Rep. Liz Cheney as the no. 3 House Republican last year, is a fierce and loyal attack dog, and Trump would benefit from tapping a woman for vice president should he run again.
Two people familiar with the matter said Trump has been surveying close friends and allies on what they think of Stefanik, one of several Republican women he is possibly eyeing for the potential VP slot, though he has not ruled out a few male contenders, too. One of these people said the former President believes Stefanik has undergone a genuine transformation — leaving the moderate wing of the party to join its increasingly powerful “America First” flank.
“There is a part of Trump who thinks he needs a female VP. He definitely likes her, likely because of how effusive she is to him,” one Trump adviser said.
Stefanik would be an odd choice for Trump’s running mate given that Stefanik got her start in politics working for former RINO Congressman Paul Ryan and in the George W. Bush White House.
And Stefanik has the record of a RINO from the Bush/McCain/Romney wing of the party.
Stefanik voted against Donald Trump’s border wall and voted for amnesty on multiple occasions.
Donald Trump will need a new running mate in 2024 if Trump secures the nod as the GOP standard bearer.
But it should not be Elise Stefanik.
