Donald Trump is going to run for president in 2024.
But Trump found out some bad news.
And Donald Trump is worried about a top star on Fox News backing this Republican in 2024.
Even if Donald Trump declares he is running for re-election it will not clear the GOP primary field.
Other contenders will enter the race.
And unlike 2016 and 2020, Trump believes he will not receive the unanimous support of Fox News Channel’s primetime lineup of hosts.
In private meetings Trump discussed his belief that Laura Ingraham will end up not supporting him in the GOP primary.
Rolling Stone exclusively reports:
In private discussions, Trump has cataloged which major on-air personalities, hosts, and shows he views as steadfastly all-in “for Trump,” which ones he sees as possibly defecting, and which he deems “against Trump.” For instance, Trump views Sean Hannity as firmly in his column, and has expressed some doubt about which camp Laura Ingraham might end up in come 2024.
Trump owns a basis for his suspicions that Ingraham could back another candidate.
In an interview with Northern Virginia Magazine Ingraham lavished praise on Trump’s America First agenda, but admitted she was not yet ready to commit to supporting Trump in 2024.
“I’m not saying I’m there for him yet,” Ingraham explained. “But I think whether he runs or not – I mean, his policies worked,” she added. “Trump’s blueprint for policy – a forward-looking, optimistic set of pro-America policies – that blueprint, without a doubt, is winning.”
Ingraham was the original voice on Fox News that supported getting tough on Communist China, sealing the border to end illegal immigration, and stopping globalist trade deals that hollowed out the American industrial base and sent jobs overseas.
Supporting Trump was natural in 2016.
But after the 2020 election Ingraham repeatedly tried to gently nudge Trump on the air to concede the election and move on.
Ingraham also criticized Trump for endorsing RINO celebrity Dr. Oz in the Pennsylvania Senate race.
Oz supported abortion, banning and confiscating firearms, as well as transgender surgeries for minor children.
The Oz endorsement upset Ingraham and she let former Trump White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway know it.
“Hannity, I think, I believe endorsed Oz and I think that’s, you know, that’s probably not inconsequential for President Trump,” Ingraham declared. “You wouldn’t answer the question whether it was a mistake. I think it was a mistake to endorse Oz. I’ll say it. I’m not afraid to say it. It was a mistake to endorse Oz.”
But who would Ingraham back in a 2024 primary?
Ingraham’s TV show dropped a hint when Ingraham traveled to Florida to host a townhall special with Governor Ron DeSantis.
Polls show DeSantis is the clear number two to Donald Trump in 2024.
A poll out of New Hampshire even showed DeSantis leading Trump.
DeSantis’ star rose in the GOP after leading the fight against Dr. Fauci’s COVID restrictions, banning school mask mandates and vaccine passports, winning the fight against woke corporations, and passing legislation preventing teachers from grooming children into transgenderism.
It is looking increasingly likely that the 2024 GOP primary field will feature a matchup between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis.
And Trump is worried Ingraham – and other Fox News hosts – will support DeSantis.
