Hillary Clinton has been accused of abusing her power to create a false Russia narrative.
It’s now causing her serious legal troubles.
Donald Trump launched a lawsuit against Hillary Clinton that made her tremble.
On Thursday former President Donald Trump filed suit in the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Florida against a number of people who played a part in the 2016 Russian collusion conspiracy.
The lawsuit accuses former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former FBI Director James Comey, the Democratic National Committee, and many others of engaging in a malicious scheme to spread lies about Trump.
“In the run-up to the 2016 Presidential Election, Hillary Clinton and her cohorts orchestrated an unthinkable plot — one that shocks the conscience and is an affront to this nation’s democracy,” Trump’s suit begins. “Acting in concert, the Defendants maliciously conspired to weave a false narrative that their Republican opponent, Donald J. Trump, was colluding with a hostile foreign sovereignty. The actions taken in furtherance of their scheme — falsifying evidence, deceiving law enforcement, and exploiting access to highly-sensitive data sources — are so outrageous, subversive and incendiary that even the events of Watergate pale in comparison.”
In February, Special Counsel John Durham stated in court filings that Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential campaign “exploited” internet data linked to Trump Tower and the Executive Office to try and create a “narrative” linking Trump to Russia.
The filing continued, “Under the guise of ‘opposition research,’ ‘data analytics,’ and other political stratagems, the Defendants nefariously sought to sway the public’s trust. They worked together with a single, self-serving purpose: to vilify Donald J. Trump,” the suit continues. “Indeed, their far-reaching conspiracy was designed to cripple Trump’s bid for presidency by fabricating a scandal that would be used to trigger an unfounded federal investigation and ignite a media frenzy.”
During the 2016 presidential campaign and presidency Trump faced numerous challenges arising from the allegations that his campaign worked with Moscow.
The lawsuit states that Trump spent at least $24 million fighting the false allegations.
“Among other things, the Plaintiff was forced to incur expenses in an amount to be determined at trial, but known to be in excess of twenty-four million dollars ($24,000,000) and continuing to accrue, in the form of defense costs, legal fees, and related expenses incurred in connection with his effort to defend against the Defendants’ actions and the various federal investigations and/or official proceedings which arose therefrom, in addition to the loss of existing and future business opportunities for himself, the Trump Campaign, and the Trump Organization LLC,” the lawsuit says.
Trump is seeking a jury trial and at least $72 million in damages.
