Democrats pressed the pedal to the metal in their witch hunts against Donald Trump.
The left is not messing around.
And Donald Trump learned devastating news about a grand jury handing down criminal charges.
Democrat Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis took her criminal investigation into Donald Trump contesting the results of the 2020 election in Georgia to 11.
Prosecutors informed Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani that he is now a target of the grand jury investigation that Willis convened.
The New York Times exclusively reports:
Lawyers for Rudolph W. Giuliani have been told that he is a target of a criminal investigation in Georgia into election interference by Donald J. Trump and his advisers, one of Mr. Giuliani’s lawyers said on Monday.
Mr. Giuliani, who spearheaded efforts to keep Mr. Trump in power as his personal lawyer, emerged in recent weeks as a central figure in the inquiry being conducted by Fani T. Willis, the district attorney of Fulton County, Ga., which encompasses most of Atlanta. Earlier this summer, prosecutors questioned witnesses before a special grand jury about Mr. Giuliani’s appearances before state legislative panels in December 2020, when he spent hours peddling false conspiracy theories about secret suitcases of Democratic ballots and corrupted voting machines.
Being labeled the target of a grand jury investigation is serious business.
Prosecutors labeling someone a “target” means criminal charges are imminent.
Giuliani is set to testify before the grand jury next week and Willis ramps up her probe into the Trump team looking to present an alternate slate of electors from Georgia to Congress on January 6.
Prosecutors are expected to ask Giuliani about his conversations with Donald Trump and the 2020 election results in Georgia.
Giuliani will assert attorney-client privilege on all those matters.
That could explain why the Democrats in the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office are now keen on indicting Giuliani.
Indicting Giuliani would pressure him to flip on Trump and tell prosecutors whatever it is they wanted to hear in order to avoid jail time.
The Democrat prosecutors in the Mueller investigation tried this same tactic by indicting Trump associates like Roger Stone and Paul Manafort on process crimes in the hopes that the prospect of a lengthy jail sentence would compel them to give false testimony about Trump colluding with the Russians during the 2016 elections.
Manafort and Stone did not turn on Trump.
And Giuliani’s attorney Robert Costello told The New York Times that Giuliani would not sell out Donald Trump to the Fulton County district attorney.
“If these people think he’s going to talk about conversations between him and President Trump, they’re delusional,” Costello said in a statement to The New York Times.
