For two months Donald Trump contested the results of the presidential election and the inauguration is in two weeks.
And now all hell is breaking loose.
That’s because Donald Trump left jaws on the ground with this decision to concede the election.
On January 6 a joint session of Congress met to certify the results of the Electoral College votes.
Just after both chambers entered debate on the results of Arizona after Texas Senator Ted Cruz lodged an objection, protestors broke through security and stormed the Capitol.
That led to a several hour standoff where some demonstrators took selfies in members’ offices—including posing for pictures behind Nancy Pelosi’s desk—stole items, smashed and milled around on the floor of the Senate.
Lawmakers retreated from the building and police eventually took control of the situation, but not before five people were killed including one female military veteran that was shot in the head and one Capitol Hill police officer.
Congress reconvened that night to finish certifying the results and even though Republican Senator Josh Hawley objected to the electors in Pennsylvania on the grounds that the state did not follow their own election laws, Congress eventually certified Joe Biden as the winner with 306 Electoral College votes to 232.
Shortly after Vice President Pence announced the results and gaveled the session closed, Trump administration deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino released a statement from the President on social media announcing that he would accept the results of the election even though he disagreed with the outcome and declared that voter fraud swung the outcome in Joe Biden’s favor.
“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th,” President Trump wrote.
President Trump repeated his intention to fight for every legal vote to count, but by declaring that there would be a peaceful transition of power and that this marked the end of the most successful first term ever, he admitted that his path to challenge the results had run its course and was over.
“I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!” President Trump added.
An aide released this statement because tech companies like Facebook and Twitter took the unprecedented and un-American step of censoring the President of the United States by locking him out of his accounts.
This was the definitive proof that Twitter and Facebook are liberal publishers that work for the Democrat Party and that they should lose their regulatory privileges.
Many Trump supporters did not think President Trump would ever or should ever concede, claiming voter fraud and irregularities as tainting the election result.
But after the riot at the Capitol and Congress certifying the results, President Trump felt he had no choice.
