Democrats’ plan to arrest Donald Trump centered as much on ruining Donald Trump’s presidential campaign as putting Trump in jail.

Democrats just wanted the image of Trump’s mug shot and being “perp walked” — the image of a handcuffed Trump paraded into a courtroom while the press and public looked on — for campaign commercials to run in the 2024 election should Trump win the GOP election.
But Donald Trump plans to use his showmanship and flair for the dramatic to turn the Democrats’ schemes on their heads.
Trump is telling advisors he wants the images of a Democrat district attorney slapping him in handcuffs and dragging him into court in front of a left-wing judge in a kangaroo court in one of the most deep-blue cities in America.

Trump’s increasing insistence that he wants to be handcuffed behind his back for a perp walk appears to come from various motivations, including that he wants to project defiance in the face of what he sees as an unfair prosecution and that it would galvanize his base for his 2024 presidential campaign.
But above all, people close to Trump said, he was deeply anxious that any special arrangements – like making his first court appearance by video link or skulking into the courthouse – would make him look weak or like a loser.
Trump sees no downside to forcing the Democrats to show the world they are an authoritarian gang trying to jail their opposition.
Donald Trump even believes if a deranged, woke liberal tried to assassinate him in court it would guarantee him the presidency.
“But Trump has rejected that approach and told various allies over the weekend that he didn’t care if someone shot him – he would become ‘a martyr’. He later added that if he got shot, he would probably win the presidency in 2024, the sources said,” The Guardian also reported.
Alvin Bragg being the political operator that he is understands these optics and if Bragg arrests Trump he will not parade Trump around in front of the mob and will instead force Trump to appear in court virtually to give the impression Trump is terrified to have the American people see him cuffed and perp-walked.
“There is no indication, even if Mr. Trump is charged, that the authorities would have him take part in that storied New York City law-enforcement tradition known by detectives and crime reporters alike — walking the newly arrested past a cluster of journalists. If Mr. Trump is indicted and surrenders voluntarily, arrangements are likely to be made between the Secret Service and law enforcement to avoid a media circus,” The New York Times reported.
