Democrats and their tag team partners in the fake news media think they have the 2020 Presidential Election in the bag.
They point to Donald Trump’s approval numbers as evidence that the President is toast when he seeks re-election.
But that all changed when Donald Trump looked at the results of this poll that turned the 2020 election upside down.
In addition to conducting a weekly survey of the President’s job approval numbers, Gallup also polls Americans for their attitudes about the President’s leadership qualities and ideology.
And Gallup found some new numbers that has every Democrat panicking about 2020.
Gallup found that the number of Americans that believed Trump has presidential character increased seven points since July 2017.
“Still, assessments of Trump’s character are not as poor as they were two years ago, consistent with his improved job approval ratings between the two periods. Slightly more Republicans, Democrats and independents now believe he has the character a president should have than did so in July 2017,” Gallup wrote of their findings.
But even more important, Gallup reported that a growing number of Americans reported agreeing with Trump on the issues.
The number of Americans stating that Trump was on their side on the issues matched George W. Bush and Barack Obama at a similar point in their presidencies right before they won re-election.
“More Americans evaluate Trump positively for his issue positions than for his character — 47% say they agree with Trump on the issues that matter most to them. Unlike his deficit on the character dimension, Trump scores about the same as his two predecessors on issues,” Gallup continued,
The report continued, “Like his ratings on presidential character, Trump’s issue ratings are better than the last time Gallup asked the question. The 47% of Americans expressing agreement with Trump on issues is up from 39% in July 2017.”
“As Trump seeks a second term, his chances of winning re-election appear greater if the campaign is decided on issues rather than character. His two immediate predecessors were viewed similarly to him on issues but were rated far superior on character. Both ultimately won re-election.”
Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale delivered similar analysis at a fundraiser.
Parscale reportedly told the attendees that if the election was a contest about policy Trump would win, but if the election was about personality the path would be more difficult.
But regardless, the poll shows Donald Trump is standing with the American people improving as the President prepares for his re-election campaign.
That is bad news for the sprawling field of Democrat candidates running to unseat the President.
In 2016, Americans had an unfavorable view of Donald Trump – fewer than 40 percent of voters had a favorable view of then-candidate Trump as they headed to the polls.
But he won the election because his “Make America Great Again” agenda was popular with the American people.
