The Afghanistan debacle destroyed Joe Biden’s presidency.
Biden fled to Delaware to hide while Afghanistan burned, and thousands of Americans hid from Taliban death squads.
And now Donald Trump saw the set of poll numbers that is every Democrat’s worst nightmare.
The American people quickly rendered judgment on the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan and deemed Joe Biden a failure.
One Reuters poll found Joe Biden’s approval rating plunging seven points from Friday to Monday to 46 percent.
And now a brand-new Rasmussen poll showed a significant portion of Americans – including 10 percent of Democrats – regretting their vote.
According to Rasmussen, Donald Trump held a 43 to 37 percent lead over Joe Biden in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup.
The National Pulse reports:
Stunning new poll numbers from Rasmussen Reports suggest nearly 1 in 10 Democrats regret their vote in the 2020 Presidential election, with 12 percent of ‘Moderates’ saying the same, and 14 percent of Black Americans expressing regret.
Furthermore, asked how people would vote if a presidential election were held today, just 37 percent said they would vote for Joe Biden, down from 45 percent who said they did. Forty-three percent said they would vote for Donald Trump.
Some of the poll’s other findings were as follows:
Just 37 percent of voters say they would vote for Biden today;
13 percent of Democrats say they would vote for Trump today;
Moderate voters support for Biden has plummeted 13 points, while Trump has gained;
11 percent of 18-39 year olds regret their 2020 vote;
14 percent of Black Americans regret their 2020 vote;
9 percent of Democrats regret their 2020 vote;
12 percent of Moderates regret their 2020 vote.
The last two presidents that oversaw failed military and foreign policy operations – Lyndon Baines Johnson and Jimmy Carter – did not secure second terms.
LBJ declined to run for re-election after the unpopular Vietnam War sunk his popularity as he barely won the New Hampshire primary 48 to 42 percent over Minnesota Senator Eugene McCarthy.
In 1980, Jimmy Carter lost re-election in a landslide to Ronald Reagan due in large part over his failure to secure the release of 52 American hostages seized by the Islamic Iranian revolutionary forces in 1979.
A rescue operation ended in failure when three of the eight helicopters arrived for the mission not in operational condition and Jimmy Carter aborted the mission even though operational planning called for four helicopters.
Americans do not react well to humiliating military defeats.
In an interview with Sean Hannity, Donald Trump called Joe Biden’s Afghanistan fiasco – where Biden went into hiding while thousands of Americans remained trapped in Taliban-controlled territory – the biggest humiliation in American history.
Judging by the poll results, the public agrees.
