Dr. Anthony Fauci is in big trouble.
Republicans have been waiting for this moment.
And now Dr. Fauci may face jail time over what this smoking gun shows.
Congressional Republicans long maintained Dr. Fauci lied to Congress when Fauci testified that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Gain-of-function research makes coronaviruses more transmissible.
And many Republicans suspected Dr. Fauci denied the NIH funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology because all the evidence points to the coronavirus pandemic beginning when the virus escaped that facility.
Rutgers Microbiologist Richard Ebright long maintained that Dr. Fauci did not tell the truth and the studies in the Wuhan Institute of Virology funded by the NIH met the definition of gain-of-function research.
Missouri Senator Josh Hawley recent asked Dr. Ebright if he stood by his statements that Dr. Fauci did not honestly testify before Congress.
“What are the implications of Dr. Fauci’s continued, blatant dishonesty regarding NIH funding of gain-of-function research in Wuhan?” Hawley asked.
Dr. Ebright did not back down and maintained that Dr. Fauci was not honest with the public, the press, and the Senate.
“I stand by my statement. The statements made on repeated occasions to the public, to the present policymakers, by the NIH and director Dr. Fauci have been untruthful,” Dr. Ebright testified. “I do not understand why those statements are being made because they are demonstrably false.”
Last October Dr. Ebright tweeted out documents showing that in 2018 the NIH knew that grant money sent to EcoHealth Alliance – which later ended up funding experiments at the Wuhan Institute of Virology – violated terms of the agreement as it was used for gain-of-function research in Communist China.
NIH corrects untruthful assertions by NIH Director Collins and NIAID Director Fauci that NIH had not funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan.

If Republicans win back control of Congress in November then next year there will certainly be an investigation into the origins of the coronavirus.
Dr. Fauci maintained from day one that the virus originated in nature.
There is no evidence to back up this claim.
All the available evidence and intelligence suggests that the virus leaked out of the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Part of that investigation will be once again subpoenaing Dr. Fauci to testify.
And if Dr. Fauci continues to maintain that the NIH did not fund gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, House Republicans may vote on a criminal referral to the Justice Department to prosecute Dr. Fauci for perjury.
