Donald Trump is heading towards a 2024 presidential campaign.
Democrats learned there was even more bad news on the way.
And that’s because Elon Musk made a bombshell announcement that will guarantee Trump wins in 2024.
Telsa CEO Elon Musk purchasing Twitter for $44 billion shook up American politics.
Once Musk promised to make the platform a haven for free speech the first question that jumped into everyone’s mind was if Musk would reinstate Donald Trump’s Twitter account.
Twitter banned Trump after the events of January 6 as liberal tech oligarchs banded together and de-platformed Trump in an effort to exile Trump from American life.
Then Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey defended his platform censoring the sitting president of the United States.
“I do not celebrate or feel pride in our having to ban @realDonaldTrump from Twitter, or how we got here. After a clear warning we’d take this action, we made a decision with the best information we had based on threats to physical safety both on and off Twitter. Was this correct?” Dorsey wrote on January 13, 2021.
Musk finally let the world in on his plans for Trump’s Twitter account at the Financial Times’ Future of the Car conference announcing that not only would Twitter restore Trump’s account, but that the platform would move away from permanent suspensions for individual users.
“I think it was a morally bad decision to be clear and foolish in the extreme,” Musk stated. “I do think it was not correct to ban Donald Trump, I think that was a mistake… It alienated a large part of the country and did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice.
“I guess the answer is I would reverse the perma-ban,” Musk continued.
Musk added that Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey agreed.
Dorsey confirmed that on social media.
“I do agree. There are exceptions (CSE, illegal behaviour, spam or network manipulation, etc), but generally permanent bans are a failure of ours and don’t work, which I wrote about here after the event (and called for a resilient social media protocol),” Dorsey wrote.
Now the question becomes will Trump return to Twitter?
When Musk initially purchased Twitter, Trump told CNBC that he would not go back to Twitter preferring to stay on his own platform, Truth Social.
“No, I won’t be going back on Twitter,” Trump stated.
“I will be on Truth Social within the week. It’s on schedule. We have a lot of people signed up. I like Elon Musk. I like him a lot. He’s an excellent individual. We did a lot for Twitter when I was in the White House. I was disappointed by the way I was treated by Twitter. I won’t be going back on Twitter,” Trump added.
But Trump won in 2016 in large part because social media allowed Trump to communicate his “Make America Great Again” message to voters and avoid the biased filter of the liberal corporate media.
Trump may plan to stay off Twitter.
But if Trump runs for president in 2024 it is impossible to see how Trump does not begin tweeting once again.
