All hell is breaking loose at Fox News Channel.
Network executives tried to move the channel to the left following the election.
And now Fox News announced a major shake-up involving this prominent pro-Trump host.
Before the election, reports surfaced that Fox News board member former Speaker of the House and lead RINO Paul Ryan pushed the Murdoch family to dump Donald Trump and move to the left.
After the election it appeared that Fox was moving in that direction.
But then Fox lost 40 percent of its audience and for the first time in nearly 20 years lost the cable news ratings race after a disastrous last place finish in January.
That led to major shake-ups where Fox News executives junked the move to the left and instead began adding more opinion programming to primetime.
The latest move came when CEO Suzanne Scott announced that popular “The Five” co-host Greg Gutfeld would move his weekend show to five nights a week at 11pm to create a new late-night opinion and comedy show.
“People need a reason to laugh,” Scott said in announcing the move. “Greg’s unique and irreverent talk show has been an incredible success, often beating the late night broadcast competition, despite its Saturday timeslot. With one of the most loyal and engaged audiences in cable news, we’re thrilled to bring the show to weekday primetime and further solidify Greg’s place among late night television stars.”
Fox viewers enjoy Gutfeld’s style of mixing pop culture humor and references with politics and his new show will bump Shannon Bream’s nightly newscast to midnight.
Gutfeld—who will pull double duty as he will continue to co-host “The Five”—expressed his excitement at his expanded role with Fox News.
“This feels like the perfect next step following the amazing success of the weekend show, which is due in large part to a great staff and a management that lets the show follow its own unique path,” Gutfeld stated. “Every day someone comes up to me to ask when are we going nightly, so now that we are, there will be approximately 3 million people who will claim it’s their idea!”
Some insiders at Fox News complained the network reacted to a drop in ratings by abandoning the shift to the left.
Others complained that Fox News was actually listening to its audience and ignoring liberal media critics that claim the definition of “news” is expressing hatred for Donald Trump.
Mediaite reported, “Reaction inside the network is mixed. ‘It’s yet another descent into outright propaganda coverage fueled by the constant right-wing grievance machine that undergirds Fox,’ said one Fox insider, while another chalked the move up to giving the Fox audience more of what it wants.”
Fox News is one of the few mainstream media outlets that challenged the dominant narratives the Democrat Party injects into the American political bloodstream through its propagandists in the press.
Many viewers are relieved to see Fox is junking plans to be another CNN and executives are instead returning the network to its “fair and balanced” roots.
