Fox News is making big changes.
Everyone is noticing what’s going on.
And Fox News gave Tucker Carlson a new role that just shook up everything.
CNN rarely seems to broadcast much news anymore.
A staple of CNN’s programming now consists of on-air talent watching Fox News in their off time and then complaining about whatever they saw.
The latest example was CNN’s Brianna Keilar and so-called “chief media correspondent” Brian Stelter whining about Tucker Carlson’s growing profile at Fox News.
“In January, Fox had its worst ratings in two decades, and now it’s going even further off the anti-truth rails in an effort to remedy that. Fox is going full Tucker: more outrageousness, more opinion, and consider what that means,” Keilar said, noting that Fox News lost 40 percent of its audience in the wake of the 2020 presidential election and many viewers’ belief the network turned on Trump.
Stelter chimed in and claimed that Fox was featuring Carlson more prominently on the network because with Joe Biden in office, Fox was leaning into being an “anti-Democrat” cable channel.
“It is an anti-Democrat network. That’s the agenda,” Stelter claimed. “The opinion shows are what define Fox News. All of the newscasts have been shrinking and the audience for those news programs have been shrinking as well.”
Fox News recently signed a new deal with Carlson to feature clips from Carlson’s show throughout the day’s programming.
In addition, Carlson took on a new role with Fox Nation—Fox’s streaming platform—where Carlson would host a podcast as well as monthly specials.
Stelter falsely claimed Fox was turning into “Tucker Carlson Channel” because Carlson fed the “red meat” Fox’s audience craved.
“Murdoch admitted that the Fox audience, Brian, is disappointed in the election results. How much does that factor into this strategy moving forward and the Fox lineup?” Keilar responded, referencing Fox News CEO Lachlan Murdoch attributing the post-election ratings decline to its audience feeling disappointed with the results of the 2020 election.
“So it is all a ratings ploy,” Stelter added. “This is all about business, all about profit.”
Everything in cable news is about ratings.
CNN turned into the anti-Trump network because millions of liberals were outraged at the results of the 2016 election and needed an outlet that would channel their anger into a 24-hour-a-day and 7-day-a-week rage fest about Donald Trump.
CNN drew the biggest ratings in history in January with their wall-to-wall coverage where they falsely claimed the January 6 riot at the Capitol was an “armed insurrection” and then covered every angle of the second attempt to impeach Donald Trump.
Carlson is the most popular figure at Fox News and draws the biggest ratings precisely because he practices the type of issue-oriented journalism that outlets like CNN cast aside in favor of constant outrage over the latest thing Donald Trump said.
