Fox News continues to realize it made a massive error in firing Tucker Carlson.
The scale of the disaster Fox News brought upon itself continues to grow.
And now Tucker Carlson is about to wreck Fox News with this shocking job offer.
Tucker Carlson is preparing for a legal war against Fox News to get out of contract.
Fox News is paying out the remainder of Carlson’s contract – worth a reported $25 million and runs through the end of 2024 – to keep Carlson off the air so he cannot join a competitor.
Carlson wants out now so he can restart his show which will allow Carlson to cover the 2024 election.
Recently Carlson set the internet on fire with a video announcing that he was taking his show exclusively to Twitter.
Carlson declaring his intention to restart his show as a streaming program on social media dared Fox News to enforce his non-compete clause.
If Fox tried to bar Carlson from broadcasting a show on Twitter it would set up a massive legal battle that could damage Fox News even further.
Text messages from other prominent hosts that Fox News never wants to see the light of day would become public as part of a lawsuit.
Other Fox News hosts have also reportedly reached out to Carlson to express their interest in joining his Twitter-exclusive media venture.
Variety reports:
But the leaks may play to Carlson’s advantage. If Fox tries to cite Carlson’s text messages as cause for firing, it will open a Pandora’s box given that other popular anchors the network is trying to hold onto are said to have embarrassing text exchanges that would surface in any Carlson litigation, negating the point of Fox paying nearly $800 million to make the Dominion suit go away.
Carlson’s Twitter move could have additional reverberations with talent at the network. A handful of Fox anchors have reached out to Carlson directly or had their surrogates contact him to say they are eager to join whatever venture he starts on Twitter when their contracts are up, according to sources.
If Carlson restarts his show on Twitter, it could place Fox News in a legal bind.
Twitter owner Elon Musk confirmed that Twitter has no contract with Carlson.
Twitter is also not a rival cable news network.
If Fox News tried to stop Carlson from streaming a show on Twitter a court could very well decide that Fox infringed upon Carlson’s First Amendment right to free speech if it tries to silence him from posting video content on social media.
And not only could Fox News lose this case, it could also lose more stars if their text messages and overtures to Carlson go public.
