Fox News firing Tucker Carlson was just step one.
The cable giant is prepared to go scorched earth to crush Carlson once and for all.
And now Fox News revealed this SINISTER plan to destroy Tucker Carlson.
Former Trump chief strategist Steve Bannon theorized that Fox News fired Tucker Carlson to muzzle the most powerful advocate for Donald Trump’s agenda.
That’s because Tucker Carlson’s contract runs through December 2024.
By firing Carlson, Fox News not only took Carlson off the board, but it chained him down with noncompete and non-disparagement clauses that prevent Carlson from negotiating a deal with a new platform or speaking out against Fox News as it shifts its editorial focus to defeating Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Carlson immediately hired high-powered legal representation in the form of Bryan Freedman — who helped Megyn Kelly collect her full contract when she left NBC — to negotiate his way out of his noncompete and non-disparagement clauses.
But Fox News is letting it be known it intends to play dirty.
Fox News allegedly gathered a dossier on Carlson that the network’s feared P.R. chief Irena Briganti can use to smear Carlson in the press.
Rolling Stone reports:
Eight people familiar with the situation tell Rolling Stone that Fox News and its communications department — long led by the notoriously aggressive Irena Briganti — has assembled damaging information about Carlson. One source with knowledge calls it an “oppo file.” Two sources add that Fox is prepared to disclose some of its contents if execs suspect that Carlson is coming after the network.
The file includes internal complaints regarding workplace conduct, disparaging comments about management and colleagues, and allegations that the now-former primetime host created a toxic work environment, three of the sources say.
Former Fox employees described Briganti as a ruthless operation completely dedicated to protecting the Fox News brand.
“Irena tries to keep a file on everybody … Any talent like Tucker would have a lot of things; other people complaining. They encourage it and then just keep it on file. It’s just a classic dirty trick,” a former Fox anchor told Rolling Stone.
A preview of the Fox strategy to bully Carlson into silence appeared in The New York Times which reported that the night before Dominion’s defamation lawsuit was set to begin trial executives discovered crude text messages from Carlson that he sent in private conversations.
The New York Times reported:
The day before Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation trial against Fox News was set to begin in a Delaware courthouse, the Fox board of directors and top executives made a startling discovery that helped lead to the breaking point between the network and Tucker Carlson, one of its top stars.
Private messages sent by Mr. Carlson that had been redacted in legal filings showed him making highly offensive and crude remarks that went beyond the inflammatory, often racist comments of his prime-time show and anything disclosed in the lead-up to the trial.
It later came out that this story was misleading as conservative activist Greg Price reported Fox News became aware of these messages more than a year ago.
Trump supporters believe part of Fox’s strategy to help another candidate defeat Trump in 2024 involves muzzling Carlson.
And the network’s “play for keeps” P.R. strategy is a centerpiece of this effort.
