Hillary Clinton is strongly rumored to be considering a third presidential campaign if Joe Biden decides against running for a second term.
Clinton is going out of her way to deny that speculation.
And Hillary Clinton used one trick to fool Kamala Harris about her 2024 plans.
Hillary Clinton used a question about her Apple+ TV show “Gutsy” to once again disguise her 2024 intentions.
“Gutsy” is a show where Clinton and her daughter Chelsea interview prominent women that the Clintons admire.
CNN “State of the Union” host Dana Bash asked Clinton who Clinton considered the gutsiest women in politics.
Clinton began her answer by citing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as the supposedly “gutsiest” woman in politics.
“I think Nancy Pelosi is the gutsiest woman in politics right now because she has shown through all kinds of turmoil and challenge what it means to, somewhat like the queen, to be drawing an analogy here, get up every day, put on those high heels she wears, suit up, to fight for the values and ideals that she strongly believes in,” Clinton stated.
Nancy Pelosi is a safe choice for any Democrat to answer that question.
Liberals revere Pelosi even though Pelosi oversaw the biggest defeat in the history of the midterm in the 2010 Tea Party wave and is likely to lose the majority for a second time in November.
But Clinton did not stop with Pelosi.
Clinton also named Kamala Harris as the “gutsiest woman in politics.”
“And of course, our vice president Kamala Harris, our vice president, is someone who is breaking totally new ground. I know that’s not easy, having done a little of that myself. And she’s doing it with, you know, good humor and a smile on her face despite the challenges that come with the role. So those are two that immediately come to mind,” Clinton continued.
Naming Harris as a gutsy woman that she admires was a shrewd move.
Harris is the sitting vice president.
Clinton not naming Harris as a gutsy woman in politics would attract attention and give away the fact that Clinton intends on challenging Harris in the 2024 primary should Joe Biden step aside.
It does Clinton no good to be seen as undermining Joe Biden and Kamala Harris less than two months before the midterm election.
Democrat voters would hold it against Clinton for sowing unrest and distracting from the midterm election if she openly embraced the rumors that she was planning on running for president in two years.
That’s why Hillary Clinton added Harris to her list of modern women that Clinton admires as “gutsy.”
It proves Clinton plausible deniability that she doesn’t think Harris is a viable candidate to win in 2024.
