The FBI gave enormous amounts of help to the Biden family during the election.
But now Hunter may be no trouble.
Hunter Biden was horrified to learn which ally just got fired at the FBI.
The agent accused of halting the probe into Hunter Biden’s laptop during the 2020 election is no longer working for the FBI.
A top official at Washington Field Office is no longer employed at the FBI following allegations that he blocked a probe into Hunter Biden.
Timothy Thibault released a statement through his lawyers at Morrison & Foerster claiming that he left the job of his own free will and denied that he had been forced to resign.
“Mr. Thibault was not fired, not forced to retire, and not asked to retire. On his last day, as part of his processing, Mr. Thibault turned in his security badge and walked with two long-time special agent friends through the field office to finish processing his paperwork. He walked out of the building by himself,” a statement from Thibault’s attorneys and posted online by CBS News correspondent Catherine Herridge said.
Thibault has come under fire since Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, exposed Thibault’s Twitter and LinkedIn which had many posts attacking former President Donald Trump and former Attorney General Bill Barr and which possibly violated federal laws and partisan behavior.
“There have been allegations that his social media posts violated the Hatch Act, and those allegations are being investigated by the Office of Special Counsel. Mr. Thibault is cooperating with that investigation, urges the office to complete its review, and expects to be fully exonerated,” the statement continued.
Grassley said that according to FBI whistleblower allegations Thibault “removed or watered-down” references to “left-wing entities.”
Whistleblowers also have said that Thibault ordered investigation into Hunter Biden “closed without providing a valid reason as required by FBI guidelines.” And that he also “attempted to improperly mark the matter in FBI systems so that it could not be opened in the future.”
Thibault responded to the allegations stating that he had nothing to do with any decision “related to any laptop,” referring to Hunter Biden’s laptop that the FBI had in their possession in 2019.
“Mr. Thibault welcomes any investigation of these false allegations, regardless of his retirement. He firmly believes that any investigation will conclude that his supervision, leadership and decision making were not impacted by political bias or partisanship of any kind,” the statement said. “Thibault was not involved in any decision related to any laptop that may be at issue in that investigation, and he did not seek to close the investigation.”
