Hunter Biden could end up facing multiple serious charges.
His unethical behavior may have finally caught up with him.
Hunter Biden just received the worst news of his life from a federal prosecutor.
Federal prosecutors have reportedly gathered enough information to charge Hunter Biden with multiple crimes due to alleged tax crimes and allegedly making false statements regarding a gun purchase.
They reportedly “determined months ago” that they had a workable criminal case against Hunter Biden, the Washington Post reported.
But agents do not have the authority to file charges so ultimately the decision on whether to file charges comes down to the U.S. Attorney in Delaware, Trump-appointed United States Attorney David Weiss.
“A prosecutor can say they have bigger fish to catch, or they can decide to seek a deal,” Joseph G. Green, a retired ATF agent, said. “As agents, we would always include as many charges as we could, but it’s ultimately up to the prosecutor to decide which ones they will bring.”
Hunter Biden’s attorney didn’t deny the report, but instead was angry over the leak, saying that any federal agent that leaked information to The Washington Post committed a felony.
“It is a federal felony for a federal agent to leak information about a Grand Jury investigation such as this one,” attorney Chris Clark said in a statement. “Any agent you cite as a source in your article apparently has committed such a felony. We expect the Department of Justice will diligently investigate and prosecute such bad actors. As is proper and legally required, we believe the prosecutors in this case are diligently and thoroughly weighing not just evidence provided by agents, but also all the other witnesses in this case, including witnesses for the defense. That is the job of the prosecutors. They should not be pressured, rushed, or criticized for doing their job.”
A group of over 30 GOP senators wrote a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland requesting that a special counsel would be put in place to provide distance from Joe Biden and the investigation into Hunter and the Biden family business dealings last month.
“[E]vidence seems to be mounting that Hunter Biden committed numerous federal crimes, including, but not limited to, tax fraud, money laundering, and foreign-lobbying violations,” the senators wrote. “Given that the investigation involves the President’s son, we believe it is important to provide U.S. Attorney [David] Weiss with special counsel authorities and protections to allow him to investigate an appropriate scope of potential criminal conduct, avoid the appearance of impropriety, and provide additional assurances to the American people that the Hunter Biden investigation is free from political influence.”
