Since taking office earlier this year, Ilhan Omar has constantly been caught up in controversy.
After making insanely anti-Semitic comments, her career was put into jeopardy.
And now Ilhan Omar got smacked with news she never saw coming.
Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are the first ever Muslim women to serve in Congress.
They both got into office at the same time, earlier this year.
And since getting into office, they have both made a name for themselves.
But their claim to fame is not for anything good, but rather for their insensitive and anti-Semitic comments.
Omar continually blasts Israel on Twitter, with Tlaib even going so far as to claim that politicians who support Israel are not entirely loyal to the United States, but have dual loyalty with Israel.
These are the sort of comments that one would expect from hardcore anti-Semites.
So it’s not surprising that their statements have earned them praise from former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.
Duke went so far as to call Omar the “most important member of Congress,” due to her anti-Semitism.
Both Omar and Tlaib are also very vocal supporters of the anti-Israel BDS movement, which calls for businesses to boycott Israel over their supposed unfair treatment to the non-existent country of Palestine.
So it was surprising in recent weeks when both Omar and Tlaib came out saying they would visit Israel.
And it didn’t take long for the state of Israel to fire back and deny them entry over their support for the BDS movement.
In a statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu makes clear that those who criticize Israel are welcome, but that somebody crosses a line when they call for a boycott of the nation.
“There is no country in the world that respects the US and the US Congress more than the State of Israel. As a vibrant and free democracy, Israel is open to any critic and criticism, with one exception: Israel’s law prohibits the entry of people who call and operate to boycott Israel,” Netanyahu said.
President Trump also responded to the news, praising the decision.
“It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep. Tlaib to visit. They hate Israel [and] all Jewish people, [and] there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds. Minnesota and Michigan will have a hard time putting them back in office. They are a disgrace!” Trump tweeted on Thursday.
In response, Omar and Tlaib were more upset that it would be more difficult for them to visit Palestine than they were from being banned from Israel.
And Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went as far as to call it a “Muslim ban.”
In reality, it is nothing more than a way for Israel to defend themselves.
Both representatives support a movement designed to weaken Israel, which is fueled by hatred of Jews.
They aren’t simply criticizing Israel, but working to help a movement that wants the Jewish state to be wiped off the face of the map.
Do you agree with the decision to bar Reps. Omar and Tlaib from entering Israel?
