Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar is under fire for a series of anti-Semitic comments.
So far she hasn’t yet apologized and hasn’t faced any real consequences.
But that is about to change after she just got smacked with news that will end her entire career.
Anti-Semitism is a very real problem in America, and around the world.
And the left is quick to point it out when they think they can link it to President Trump.
But it never works well, considering that Trump is a strong supporter of Israel, and has a son-in-law and daughter who are Jewish.
The only time they seem to ignore anti-Semitism is when it comes from their side, or from radical Muslims.
In this case, the biggest promoter of anti-Semitism in a high-level position in the United States today is Rep. Ilhan Omar.
She is a Congresswoman with documented ties to radical Islamic figures.
Along with those ties, she has also continually made comments perceived to be anti-Semitic.
One tweet, in particular, created a massive backlash.
In response to a tweet about politicians who support Israel, she responds that their support is “all about the Benjamins,” implying that Israel is buying off U.S. politicians.
This is a long-held portion of an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that Israel, and therefore Jews, control the U.S. government.
After refusing to back away from the comment, the tweet was quietly deleted last week.
But deleting the tweet isn’t stopping the backlash.
Figures across the political spectrum, but mostly on the right are calling on her to resign, or at least leave her post on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Democrats have the power to remove her but are refusing to do so.
Instead, they are pushing a resolution to condemn anti-Semitism.
While the resolution may seem good on the surface, it does nothing at all.
It doesn’t name Omar, and simply allows Democrats to say they oppose anti-Semitism.
This is causing many Republicans to renew calls for Omar’s removal.
House Minority Whip Steve Scalise is calling on removal from the committee.
Speaking to Fox News, he explains why:
“Well, the resolution only addresses a piece of the problem. She continues to display anti-Semitic remarks, comments. These are her beliefs. And so if they really are serious about addressing the problem, Nancy Pelosi has to remove her from the Foreign Affairs Committee.”
This is coming amid calls from dozens of Jewish groups, and hundreds of thousands of individuals for her removal.
Despite all this, Democrats are standing by her and refusing to take action.
This is a very different response than Democrats take with Republicans facing similar scandals.
An out-of-context quote from Republican Rep. Steve King is enough for him to lose committee seats.
But a comment entirely in context, mirroring an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory is not enough for Democrats to take action against one of their own.
Do you think Ilhan Omar should be removed from office?
